I use Sunpass as well. I live in the Daytona Beach area, but work all over the state of Floriduh, so I frequently use it, and I don't have any problems. The new, display-less transponders have no reason to know how much toll you have if they have no display.
The older balance display transponders might be legacy supported, but from the look of that one, it just shows you the toll paid, not balance available. It might actually hold your balance info, but it just looks like a "toll paid" display.
Other than that, I am at a loss....
I travel the 408, 417, and Turnpike a lot, and hardly have any problems. The only problem I have is not hearing the little "BEEP" from the transponder.
