Actually it's not too bad. Very rarely does it stop to buffer, I think it's only done it once in the 10+ HD movies I've watched.
Now I can't even watch normal SD movies. |

 Prime time |
I had to test this alleged 3GB cap thingy.
Here's a screen at 6 gigs into a 7 gig download at full speed at primetime during a snow event with the neighborhood bunkered down in front of their PCs.
No cappage here in Port Orchard, WA. Nor have I ever seen a cap. I pray Wave doesn't go that route or I'll take my plan down to bare bones, or quit altogether. |

| reply to Max010101 Perhaps if we get enough people to take their package down to almost the bare minimum then Wave will rethink this cap. I know four people, me being number five that are prepared to do this.
IF they are going to do a temporary cap, it should be during selected hours such as 7am-9pm or something. Then after that everyone should get their full speed. |

@wavecable.com | That's a good idea ryanwa. I am going to call wave tomorrow and lower my account down to 1.5Mbps. Why am I paying 65 if I am only getting 1.5? Might as well save my cash |

| reply to Max010101 This confirms what is happening to me. I am also in Rocklin here. been going on for weeks now and wave says they can send a tech out to my house in a couple weeks to check my stuff here. I have full gigabit on my lan going between systems. Yet at about the same time as you people are saying bandwidth wise it suddenly drops to 1.5mbit. I pay the extra money for 10mbit. Have been with starstream for over a decade. Now they do this crap to my connection and I'm currently looking for a new provider. I pay nearly 200 a month to wave. Can EASILY change my tv service and exploring options on internet |

| I have a recorded call to a tech support agent I will be posting up later. Just spent over an hour on the phone. Network Operation Center apparently confirmed that they do throttle once at 3GB download for day. and btw my line speed shot back up at 11:25pm. The guy in the noc which as tier1 tech stated was the head person in charge there flat out said no they will not remove the throttle because they plan to add a pay for bandwidth plan. So I guess they will get like phone company and charge per kilobyte of bandwidth and if I put that plan on I would end up with a thousand dollar plus bill. God I wish starstream never sold to wave. By the way I was one of the first 5 cable modem subscribers in this area. |

@comcast.net | reply to Max010101 Do you really think Starstream would miss out on this as well? When all the ISPs are doing the same thing why be left behind? |
|
  kamidake55
@wavecable.com | Vapid,
Who else is doing this? I know comcast has 250GB/month. But 3GB a day is only 90GB a month.... and sometimes I need to get 8-10GB a day but then wont really use my connection for a couple days. |

| reply to Demon5 demon5, I can't wait to hear the call lol. I've called 15 times or so and I could NEVER get a supervisor & NOC kept denying they are doing anything. But 11:25 comes and it's like magic.. come on. I'm so glad Surewest is coming out there on the 30th to put in Bonded DSL. |

  kamidake55
@wavecable.com | Meant glad my completely unthrottled/unmetered Surewest bonded DSL is coming HERE on the 30th. I wish I could go back and edit |

| Okay, just spend 10 minutes on the phone listening to their horrible christmas music and then I talked to a nice guy.
He said that they are capping people that use bittorrent and the like. Apparently there is an 'alarm' that goes off and alerts their computers and then we are capped. I then asked him what about something like Netflix where you can stream HD movies which are obviously over 3GB - he said that should not be capped and if it's a problem then they will fix it.
I think it's all BS. |

| He lied. I set my newsreader to connect to port 80 and it still blasted me in 15 minutes. It's 3GB PERIOD per day. This is False Advertising. Who here would be interested in a class action lawsuit? Btw I'm going to look into that surewest thing sounds good. 30th? what area are you in |

| LOL -- Caps are written into TOS at almost all ISPs. There is no "false advertising" unless they explicitly said "There are no bandwidth caps."
And any decent ISP can analyze traffic based on the packets, not what port it's running on.
Try running not just on port 443, but with SSL enabled and see how it handles. |

| This is an argument that goes around and around, but there's never any agreement on it.
Just remember: when you're downloading 10GB+ in a day, you're saturating a pipe somewhere. When you're on a shared system (DOCSIS), you're causing other users to have bad service. Which makes more sense, throttling the one user who is effectively abusing the resources or having bad experiences for the other 100+ clients? I think the answer is pretty simple from a business standpoint.
All that being said, I'd certainly "march on Washington" (so to speak) if they started capping up here in my area. But to threaten a class action? That's just sad.
And why does it matter if you're one of the first early adopters of an area? Why do you deserve special treatment whereas the guy who signed up last month doesn't? |

| uh. for one I've spent THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of dollars on this service. for two if they can't provide the service they can't LEGALLY charge for this service. there is MULTIPLE speed prices. I pay more money to be able to use more bandwidth. When I get the 1.5mbit 25 dollar plan for 50+ that does NOT make me happy. Wave is Screwing me over and robbing me. False Advertising is saying 10mbit connection for this price. yet you pay that price and get 1.5mbit after 15 minutes of use. then the next 24 hour period is same speed until 11:25pm. so yes after spending FAR above 10 thousand dollars to this service. Yes I do expect to have what I pay for. Not some jack ass being a complete prick to me on the phone. |

If you follow this link you will see that it states "up to" before all the speeds.
This might be something to look over as well
