| reply to Jessica33 Re: WaveBroadband Torrent Throttling??!!!
I already have directv installer comming out tuesday. I will be cutting my tv service at that point. Still deciding on internet service but that will be cut VERY soon as well. I did not want to change but with the employee's that wave has and the way I was treated when I called there is NO WAY IN HELL I can continue to pay the ammount of money I currently do. |

I have had my fair share of problems with Wave (been with the same system as @Home was...) and I can say that it always gets better. -- Come play Mafia! | WA State Politics |

| reply to Max010101 So did talk to Wave recently, and in the Sacramento area there is an issue with bandwidth so they implemented a 3GB/day cap for all traffic no matter what it is.
So should be fixed late January. At that point, it will become a 250-300GB month plan and so much per GB after that. Shouldn't be any daily amounts though and shouldn't be throttling P2P. I'd say, if you live in an area where you can get 10Meg Bonded DSL from Surewest, that's the route to take otherwise stick with it? |

@wavecable.com | reply to Max010101 Oh, and Wave is willing to refund the difference from your package to 1.5Mbit. Since, that's basically what you have right now. |

@wavecable.com | reply to Max010101 Yes, so if you are paying $65 a month, you should get a credit of 30.00 for 2 months.. December & Jan. But it's not automatic, just because some have got it, doesn't mean it's going to be given to you |

| reply to Max010101 This is so frustrating. For a while there Giganews was completely blocked. Now it's sort of 1/2 working. I can understand if they are having network issues and need to throttle heavy users for a while. But you'd think they'd at least notify us or cut those of us paying $65/month a break.
$65/month is a a lot to pay for Internet and you'd think they'd want to hold on to their customers that are willing to pay a premium. We are probably also the same crowd that are willing to pay a premium for their other services (TV, etc.).
The irony is that if they formally announce a plan to provide 300 gigabytes/month, I will most likely end up downloading more than I do now because I will be thinking....hey I paid for 300 gigabytes, I might as well use it.
Thankfully, they are no longer the only game in town for 8 MB+ Internet service. I'll give them another month or two to figure this out, but it wouldn't take much for me to leave them after 8 years of paying $50-$65/month.
Get with it Wave. |

| reply to Max010101 Since this new crap they are doing wit the bit torrents, two weeks ago right before xmas break I was getting here in Sequim, WA more than my capped modem speed of 10240 down and 1024up speeds 24/7 I could max out my tcp/ip downloads from websites at 1.18-1.20mbps downloads 24/7.. then this new packet sniffing shit kicks in on their routers.. and now i cant get anything faster on download and they say its my issue. i get maybe if im lucky max 8000kbps download which cant even max out at 1.0mbps anymore. although the funny thing upload is the same if not better and hasnt changed.and every tech level 1 person i talk to wants to send out a tech to come up with a pretend problem on my side to say its me, although i know its them when before this issue everyone is having now i had my max speed attainable through the same rg6 cable from the street to my linksys docsis 2 modem and for 45 or so days had my max speed 24/7 now i cant get anywhere near my max capped speed on modem and its probably due to their beta testing of the dam new filters to filter out people who download shit they dont want you downloading on their network... I just want my speed back for normal shit that i download LIKE DRIVERS and patches for LEGAL SHIT... and for my xbox 360!!! screw you wave!! im paying for 10240kbps download and get 6-8000kbps.. that is false advertising |

i was the breality211 guy up above this post. heres some screenshots! not my issue on my side but speed is definitely slower... due to their new implemented filters to sniff out traffic they dont want the customer downloading or uploading. before this always had above my cable modem download capped speed. now much slower and much mroe lag on pings.. everyone should upload their info and then we can prove to them its them not us! |

one more screenshot from the past when I use to get my max speeds 24/7 not stable but at least it was up there this is from my router a while ago before this new crap this month.. the month fo december 2008.. check out the screenshot and look at current RX bandwidth it was 1265.43 kilobytes which equates to 1.18mbps which is what you should get for what your paying for through wave cable.. but now i havent seen anything close to that speed now for two weeks and they want a tech to come out becuz it must be my fault that THEY screwed up there network!! |

| reply to skyhawk21 Kind of curious how you went from getting 10Mbit in Sequim to getting 7-8Mbit in Lacey...
Anyway, it's entirely possible/likely that you finally got a neighbor with Wavebroadband.
Before I left for a trip to see the in-laws, I was getting a fabulous 1mbit during the day. We'll see what happens when I get home. |

| I called Wave up in WA and they told me that they were not throttling my service. After buying 2 new routers and still getting slow service until i did a reset I went down to the local wave office in Rocklin and got a new modum. The lady at the front office gave me a name and number of a local tech to talk to if I was still having problems. Still having problems I called the tech and he told me that after 2 or 3Ms of heavey downloading they will slow me down per day from 10M to 1.5M. I explained that I was having problem last week and the people in Kirkland told me that they were not slowing me down. I explained since I though my router was having problems thinking it was bad,( per the conversation I had with Linksys)I loaded WTR firmware but put in the wrong one and bricked the router, so I bought a new one with the same problem and bought a third with the same problem. He told me that he would fix my router so I went out the the dumpster and as soon as I opened someones bag with diapers in it I quit.... The tech went on to say that this is going to happen to me for the next few months until they get a new speed and usage sensity rate plan out to us. In the meantime there is nothing he could do other that to change my mac address on my router.
I can get att for $45 per month at 10M down, unlimited local and longdistance for $30( did not even have to go to VOIP) and 220 channels, free installations with month to month and asked if she had any rebates and she gave me a $50 coupon. Her name is Carie at cr5232@att.com. They also have an 18M down and 1.5 up for $65 - 10 = $55 per month. Fiber no throttling Go to *&^$* Wavebroadband |

| reply to kamidake50 I'm off of wave, THANK GOODNESS. In this case, the grass is much greener on the other side. Speeds are faster and no cap whatsoever. Oh and did I mention it is half price and I get a static IP? And it's more reliable?
In the end, Wave declined to offer a credit for the throttled speeds to 1.5 and honestly, I just wanted to count my losses so that's OK.
If everyone is in a non fiber area, I suggest you check out bonded DSL. So they bring two lines to your house which doubles your speed as you could previously get (on the uplink too which is cool) So in some areas, you can get upward of 12Mbit |

| reply to Max010101 look at this crap.. tday is dec 30th 2008, had a tech come out at 10:30am when i was getting ok speeds 75% of my 10240 cap on cable modem.. now its 6:27pm and since 6pm this is how slow my inet is.. the only thing i have done today internet bandwidth wise is download patches and updates from microsoft.com had to reinstall winxp on new systrem and download software patches legitly from there company sites.. and now sionce 6pm in sequim wa i get this speed.. see attached image.
call wave up, they said no one in my area is complaining like me of slow speeds. so he has to send a tech out again to check it out at the times it happens like late in evening. this is bullshit there doing something on their own network as well as they dont want to fix issues on there side and blame me. they had the gull to ask me if i bit torrent. I told them hell no i dont mess with that spam/virus/infected crap... but yet now my upload is faster than my download! |

| My husband had to reinstall XP tonight because of some issues, and as he went to start downloading drivers, the internet slowed down (around 6pm).
He called WAVE and must have gotten the same retard on the phone that you had because he told him that nothing was going on and that is was on our end. After getting no where with that guy, my husband hung up.
Still pissed off, about 30 minutes later my husband called again, was on hold 20+ minutes, and finally got someone with some brains. Guess a fiber optic cable in Kirkland broke *eyeroll*, but they are sending a tech out on Friday anyway.
I was really looking forward to playing COD5 tonight. Guess that won't happen

| reply to Max010101 hey where you located? maybe we should just drive somewhere and meet and have a local lan party for games. this shit with wave is un dam believable.... there answer to everything its on your end, how in the hell as customers are we suppose to fix issues with routers and fiber lines on THEIR network from our house. hell they can give me the login and password to there secret crap and ill hack it. anyways my inet is going at 2k a second worst than dial up. if you loose a fiber line u think their backup would be able to handle the load, what does wave do with all the money we give them? put it in their pockets and party. I installed a new MOBO and system and have to re install everything.. I got 12 legit games from valve off of steam and I dont think ever at this rate ill be able to get that going. i got like 50 gigs of games from them i need to re-download and install... dumbass wave! in sequim, other choice is qwest at 5mbps and they have their issues out here as well since i had them. WISH I HAD COMCAST cant beleive im saying that. anyhow goodluck all and SCREW OFF WAVE!! |
