Hummm...
I concur with the previous posts: i'm no hacker just because i know how to place rechargeable batteries in my .MP3 player, etc... Quite frankly, FirmWare flashing is an ordinary procedure similar to switching battery chemistry and some people would even challenge the legitimity of using any publicly available Linux code in proprietary FirmWare but i guess it is good enough to modify FirmWare (to access/add features not supported before) to be considered a "hacker". Short of that, we can certainly do with our MoDems whatever we see fit if it's mentioned in the owner's manual!...
In other words, reading the manuals hardly qualifies as hacking, in my humble opinion.
