It can be, yes. But being Earthlink has the potential for throwing a curveball into the game. As an upgrading HughesNet subscriber, the procedure was dead simple. I disconnected my DW4000, replaced it with the HN7000S, ran the registration routine found in the 7000 user interface. It automatically decommissioned the old DW4000, the replacement HN7000S was commissioned, my account was updated, and I was back online in minutes. No outside work required, no installer required.
There will likely be a little more manual intervention on your part though. You'll have to manually cancel your account with Earthlink to decommission the DW4000, and stop monthly charge. That should probably wait till after you've actually got the HN7000S connection up and running with HughesNet though. If no Earthlink upgraders chip in here to help within a reasonable period, I suggest you look here ( »October / November Satellite Stuff For Sale & Wanted ) and here ( »www.google.com/products?q=hn7000···coring=p ).
Then check out this site: »customercare.myhughesnet.com/ specifically the link in the middle of the page that says REGISTRATION.

| Re: [DW4000] DW4000 - the last user to get cancelled without not Thanks for the guidance. That looks like it may be the best course of action if I am going to keep broadband.
I confirmed with Earthlink Customer Service that the DW4000 is finished. Their solution is an upgrade to DW7000 -- free installation, but $99.95 for 18 months, then back to the current level of $69.95. No thanks.
I asked at HughesNet about the DW4000, which still has a page up in their Registration section, and they confirmed HughesNet no longer supports it either.

I don't think Earthlink knows which hand washes the other. I know I don't need new equipment since I have the .98 meter dish, my OSU is ok, and my wiring is ok. I just need the "new modem" or just a switch to Hughesnet for the new service. I would really not want to pay for upgrading the modem unnecessarily, since I've been waiting for BPL , which has had a 4 year delay in establishing itself. (Broadband over Powerlines). It's much faster than either cable, DSL or Satellite, at about 1/3rd the cost. This is why I will not shell out hundreds of dollars, and lock myself into a multi-year contract with either Earthlink or Hughesnet. I just want to maintain my broadband until BPL FINALLY comes to town, which is SUPPOSED to be by April - June '09 Wulffie. -- Earthlink,DW4000 SRS,G11-990MHz,91W,Signal-94,4.2.1.10,D-514 Dlink Router,3 wired & 2 wireless clients.
