I see a few old threads regarding broadband services in Manila thats too old to reply so let me just put my reply here.
For those looking for a decent DSL connection in Manila (Metro Manila) then my suggestions are:
Bayantel - P1,200 Pesos/Monthly 712kbps with land line phone PLDT - 990 Pesos/Monthly with land line phone
Don't even think going for SmartBro or Globelines, they suck.
PLDT and Bayantel aren't perfect but they're the lesser evils.
I had Bayantel service before and for 2 years I get decent reliable connection with minimal downtime that only last a few hours.
Now I have PLDT (Plan 990 pesos w/ land line) and I get no lower than 10mbps down and 800kbps up connection. I even had a couple of 19mbps connection even though I should only be getting 384kbps connection.
So what I'm trying to say is get a PLDT and you might get lucky too because I know a lot of people with 384kbps plan with 1.5mbps connection. Here's the link to my speedtest -> »www.speedtest.net/result/348392577.png
It might depend on how many subscibers are using the same service as you are.
[analogy] you might be sharing the water pipe with 5 people on Bayantel and sharing the water pipe with 25 people on SmartBro or Globelines..
speaking of Globe:
Then again in Cavite they have to use Globe as their landline which I don't like at all. At the other location in Manila there is PLDT and I find that much better quality.
reply to zaldy Yes Pasig im in australia and trying to get a total price to connect a home phone and broadband internet, say(256kbps). So i will try PTLD first. thanks. By the ways know any reputable computer stores in this area?

It's been a couple of years since I was there so knowing any local stores would be hard. The only "reputable" store that comes to mind would be SM. SM Mega Mall in Mandaluyong maybe?
