| G17 Pointing Qued status
Hello all; I have been in contact with Hughes in re-establishing service with my old 7000 modem. I connected the modem back up and wanted to check the signal levels. Transponder 990 locked in with a signal of 71. when I try to do a manual ACP it shows I am in cue. I tried it again and the cue status increased and has continuously increased from 40 to over 60. A automatic ACP completes with ACP at 68. Is the manual cue status a Hughes issue or mine? Also is 990 the only DVB-S transponder available on G17? as it is the only transponder I can lock on to. Will the DW7000 lock onto a DVB-S2-ACM carrier? Thanks -- Hughesnet DW7000 G17/990 |

I am showing 990 and 1070 for G17 with a maybe of 1370 and 1410. I do not know the modulation.
A plain 7000 will not do DVBS2 -- 9000 spaceway III, 7000S SatMex 5 1270, Dlink wirless |

| reply to teledatatech Thanks; I cycled thru the other transponders, and the signal strength on them are about the same at ~15. The config file in the modem shows 990 and 1070 DVB-S and 1410 DVB-S2. I manually entered 1370 and signal there is at ~15 also. 990 continues good at 70. Hughes may recommission to a different satellite anyway, but Since the dish is already pointed at G17 I thought I would test it there. I did find a Hughesnet transponder listing as of 8/15/08, but it doesn't show which transponders are DVB-S or DVB-S2 -- Hughesnet DW7000 G17/990 |

1 edit | said by teledatatech :Thanks; I cycled thru the other transponders, That only works if you actually know all the satellite parameters, and they're not always readily available. Worse yet, the SBC files are quite often long out of date. If you have just ONE of the parameters off (when checking for signal strength), you'll get some red number below 30.
Even the Tier I call center doesn't get the updated parameters in a timely fashion, as I've had to correct them more than once. Sometimes Tier II in Florida has more current parameters, but I've caught them out in the past as well. You have to get to Tier IV and beyond (engineering) before you can actually consider what you're being told as current and accurate.
OR - ask knowledgeable members here what their operational G17 satellite parameters are.
