I just worry a little more than the next person, sometimes. Ultimately, my belief is that it all works out in the end, but sometimes the steps in the middle can get rough.
I have a good job. I don't think it's going anywhere. For that, I'm incredibly thankful. I just see so many people out of work, and a friend of mine is a recruiter with a family and times are as bad as he's ever had it. For him, and people like him, and people that have lost their homes or can barely make it, are the people that I hope get immediate help in any form.
I hope you're able to find a job as soon as you need it. Wish you the best of luck. -- "Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy." - George Carlin

| reply to Jeffrey The biggest problem is there really is no help. I have been interviewing and looking since January. I have over 10 years as a Sr. Systems Administrator and cannot find a job.
I am a little worried but the way I see it, I am not alone. I am not close to loosing my home, my wife works.
I am also disabled from a car accident so I am going to try and collect disability from that. I was hit head on by a high truck driver! I hate doing that, collecting from the government, I liked working, but I have no choice. I cannot walk much anymore or do too much else. Most companies will not take telecommuters anymore because they have such a big pool of applicants.
Oh well, just remember, life could be worse. You could be in constant horrible pain the rest of your life with no job and no way to get one! And the best part, is you can only blame 1 person, a truck driver you saw in court 1 day.
Ahh, sweet ol times... I think I need a beer. |

| Also, one problem I think is the idea that people should be paying for something they do not have the money for.
Credit is a horrible thing. If you cannot pay for it, do not buy it. But we have been so structured that to buy a house we have to ask a bank and pay 4 times what it costs. Credit cards, I have 15 cards for what? Because banks just gave them to me.
We should save our money, buy a car when we have enough money for it. Same with a house. 10 years and we could probably buy a house with good financial discipline. No 30 year mortgage crap. Need some clothes? Make sure you have enough cash. But our economy has got to the point where we get everything we want and pay for it later, that should not be! |

I figured out a way to quit my job and to go back to school; not that everyone can do that, sure, but the response of most people was to change nothing. Well, I did what I was supposed to do. Saved, recently bought a house--- stayed relatively debt free--- plowing money into my 401k and retirement funds... Sacrificed, not buying new cars or boats or other crap that I didn't need but would sure be nice... However, Now I'm beginning to wonder if all that was a total waste. Sure... the markets will go back up IF we get the economy straightened out--- but I feel this creeping unease that that could mean the USA has to start living within it's means and paying off debt... sort out our out-of-control medical system... fix Social security... stop fighting wars because we can't afford them--- switch to alternative energy etc etc and other major issues.... problem is if we can't get a handle on these it means a long, hard, tough time of social unrest and turmoil is ahead... maybe even societal collapse. Might never recoup the losses and have any type of economic freedom in the future or decent standard of living if it takes decades to fix....
Oh well, I have a job. For now.... and it's some comfort (not) let me tell you knowing it would end quickly should any major health issue occur. |
