Does anyone know what kind of modem/router Verizon is offering for new customers? Any reviews on the model?

Is it better to get a just a modem and use your own router?

Erial, NJ		 Currently the Westell 7500 or 6100. They may also still have some Actiontecs in the line to offload.

Your best bet is to get a Verizon modem/router.

That way if you call tech support, they are able to support your modem, as opposed to only supporting the modem, and referring you to your manufacturer of the router.

The 6100 is just a plain old modem. No bells, no whistles. It's been updated.

They also have new Actiontecs.

The 6100 is a 1 port modem/router. The 6110 is the dumb modem in that series.
