Re: Throttled to 7.5Mbps?

One can imagine why they don't want the media present, though. There's no real fanfare needed for such a limited system. Yay?
You must have read that wrong. They are asking for media coverage, not discouraging it.

»Virgin 50Mbps December 15
UK ISP Virgin Media is asking journalists to attend a media event intended to herald the launch of their new 50Mbps DOCSIS 3.0 tier on December 15.
Virgin Media looks set to launch its 50Mb broadband on December 15 after inviting journalists to a mystery event. Now, journalists have been told to 'hold the date' on December 15 – where the company will almost certainly show off the fastest broadband in the UK.

Yep. I did read wrong. Personally, this system isn't worthy of fan fare. What a crock as I'm sure it'll be advertised at 50mbit, and the "capped speed" hidden into a million words of fine print. The rest of my post is accurate. However, I did misread on the media part. Not major mistake but retracted to say the least on my part.

Set a timer in your P2P client, and at night floor the connection away. Much better than 10GB a month on TWC.
