Split from this topic ---> »Let's keep all DOCSIS 3.0 Discussion in this thread, please
I got the email from comcast stating my area was upgraded for free. I went to the local comcast office and traded my old modem to a DCM425. A list of approved cable modems that was published by comcast didn't list my old modem. I get home set everything up and I am able to get out to the internet. I go to test my connection on the comcast speed test website and I consistantly get 12Mb down and 6Mb up. I ran the test over several days with the same results. I did the same test on speakeasys website and my numbers there are consistantly 6Mb downdown and 700Kb up. Is anyone seeing the same issue, I dont know if I got the speed upgrade or not.
Mod Note: Per this post, this is about an upgrade to the 12/2 tier, so it would be more appropriate for this topic ---> »Discuss 16/2 or 12/2 speed tiers here, please
We'll let it stand alone, however, since it really is also appropriate as an individual help topic. |

The RCA DCM425 is not a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. »www.thomson.net/GLOBALENGLISH/PR···ult.aspx

These speed test sites are prone to include powerboost levels and not your sustained speeds. I consistently get well over 10Mb down and 6 to 7 Mb up and I'm on the 6000/1000 tier. |

www.testmy.net
Go to download speed tests and hit the 100MB link
That should give you your true speed. Those speed test sites simply don't use large enough test files. |

In 3 years of testing, I have never gotten anything near reality there..
It is still subject to distance between client and server, load on server at any given moment, possible routing latency just like any other site/server.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I don't think so..
I'm on Blast 16/2, however, I am currently getting sustained uploads of 10Mbps due to D3 stress testing in my area.
Real world large file downloads from known to be fast and close by servers, and large file uploads via FTP to my Comcast personal web space indicate that I am indeed getting 16Mbps sustained download speed after the Powerboost burst subsides, and also indeed getting 10Mbps sustained upload speed with not trace of the Powerboost effect. |
