Re: The nature of the forum said by Anonymous Cynic :
If I were in a burning building, I think that I would rather have the Comcast tech than some of the above commenters that would be urging me to jump... I seem to remember another Cable Tech a while back who saved people at a bridge collapse. So he is not the only one who has been a hero when circumstances called for a hero. |

So he is not the only one who has been a hero when circumstances called for a hero. Rick Kraft is who you're likely thinking of. He recieved a Hero of Valor award for his active participation and help in rescuing people from the river immediately following the collapse.
"Rick was chosen for the 2007 Hero of Valor Award in recognition of his life-saving efforts in the immediate aftermath of the 35W bridge collapse in Minneapolis in August of 2007."
There was a article about him in readers digest too.
Rick: "I was just doing what needed to be done."
Comcast employees/techs deal with the public a lot in customers homes, along with driving around and could come across a lot of unfortunate situations. Employees are given the option of taking classes to get trained and certified in CPR and using AEDs.
And in regards to the person several posts back that made the comment about the people being rescued being able to sue Comcast if they got hurt, I'm fairly certain that the good samaritan law would apply.
"Good Samaritan laws in the United States are laws or acts protecting from liability those who choose to aid others who are injured or ill. They are intended to reduce bystanders' hesitation to assist, for fear of being sued or prosecuted for unintentional injury or wrongful death."
I say fairly certain because they possibly werent injured at the point when they were coming down the ladder, but they certainly didnt want to stay in their burning building.
And you guys that think an employee would get in trouble for taking the time to help people in need/danger like that are out of your mind. Seriously. |
