A typical nonsensical, greedy BS deal - this must be AT&T...

...because anything they do is always BAD for you and serves only their interests - AT&T is one of the most unscrupulous, greediest, most despicable telecom companies and this is a prime example why.

This isn't a bad deal if someone already uses their service, and likes it. I mean if you're already a customer and don't mind signing a contract, I don't see an issue. You just get a perk for doing so. Personally, I hate contracts and dislike ATT, but that's not to say all do.

You can put Bell Canada in that category as well. Absolute scumbags.

It makes no sense for absolutely anyone except some AT&T shill - you can get full smartphone service added to a secondary line for a total of $25/mo if you already have a service.

They are so rotten. They are giving you a modem and netbook for $99. When I signed up with Sprint 2 years ago, I paid $99 just for a modem. The nerves. When I switched to ATT a month ago, I paid $99 for a modem too. Giving away a netbook is just dispictable. WHAT RIGHT DO THEY HAVE GIVING AWAY STUFF!!

Umm, Let's see now. You are paying $1600.00 for your 'given away' notebook. The notebook SELLS for about $500.00, so why are YOU giving away $1100.00. As the previous poster ALREADY STATED, you can get the SAME plan for $25.00 a month, so 2 years @ $25.00 will set you back $600.00, thats $500.00 LESS than you are paying the evil empire for the 'privilege' of using their crappy network.

Great so how about comparing an Orange to an Orange instead of an Apple and Orange.

This promotion appears to go along side the Air Cards not data added to a second smart phone device. If you were in the market for just an Air Card and not other phone service it would be an OK deal.

I prefer a stand alone Air Card instead of teathering because you are not tied to a single device.

Apple is a hardware vendor, Orange is UK provider... :P

No, it still wouldn't be an OK deal because it would only make sense if, beyond wanting the air card you would also A) want an Acer Aspire One B) you would want to use specifically AT&T WITHOUT any regular account for $60/mo (how does that make sense?) and C) you want a 2-yr long contract, all this for ~$1600-1700 with tax.

In this case you're right, it's a "great" deal.

You don't get it: it's a SIM card, not a device.

As a matter of fact this gives you more freedom than any air card: you can shove it to any SIM-based device as well as into usb adapters etc.

Actually it's even worse: this netbook sells around $300 or less...

Why don't you factor in the price of the data usage when you buy an Aspire One for $500?

This is meant for people wanting a netbook and data service.
