Re: $60/mo 2 yr contract for all AT&T laptop data plans

I have a netbook + ATT data plan. I wish they offered this a month ago. Currently using a USB 3G stick. Integrated would nice. A netbook for $99 would even be nicer.

I paid $99 for my 3G card. $260 for my netbook after rebates. So people are getting a modem + netbook for $99 is a steal.
Suuure, along with the $1500 cost, right?

Why am I not surprised that none of you guys realize that you can add your own SIM reader and then if you get a second line added to your plan w/ $20 unlimited smartphone service you got the same service.

Its my choice if I want to shell out $1500 or so a year. I have been doing this for the past 2 years at Sprint.

Sure I could tether and hope they don't find out I could also dump my auto insurance premium while I am at it. Just hope I don't get into any accident.

Feel free to ask if you don't get something - your comment makes little or zero sense FYI.

So your tethering for $20 is legit?

to get a $20 smartphone data plan, you would need the IMEI of a smartphone. the billing system only allows compatible plans to their devices, so if your IMEI is for a blackberry, it will only allow a user to add a blackberry data package to it. in order for you to take advantage of this deal, you would be activating it with the IMEI of the integrated data card, thus the billing system would only allow the compatible data plan.

and btw, YOU are the one not seeing the deal. if someone were to buy a laptop from anywhere and go on their own to get the data plan, they are STILL paying the $1500 assuming they use the data plan for 2 years PLUS buying their own data device if it not already integrated in the laptop. (this price goes for either of the "big 2" - VZ or ATT) getting an extra couple hundred bucks off your "device" (i.e. laptop) is therefore a deal.

Exactly.
For some... a $99 laptop + $60/month for Internet isn't a bad deal.
How much do you pay for Internet over DSL or Cable ?
Since this is mobile, you pay a little more, but to be given a laptop (sure ... its no Toshiba) for $99, its not a horrible deal.
I'd just have to ensure that I 'could' take that SIM out and into another device (say my phone) and connect it to a 'real' laptop or PC if needed.
