Re: Second Fastest quarter mile in an electric car?

Here's one that's faster. 11.5 seconds in the quarter mile.
You can check youtube for more WrightspeedX1 videos.

Speed. Power. The joys of eking a few more meters per liter out of a Prius is never going to make the blood race for people who live and breath speed and power. Meet the Wrigthspeed X1 prototype electric car. 0-60 in 3 seconds. Standing quarter mile in 11.5 seconds. Dusts Porsches and Ferraris in road tests. 170 mpg. Wait a minute, did you say 170 mpg?? I thought this was an electric car. Okay, it uses about 200Whr/mile for city driving. We will know green design has come of age when you can read the Watt-hours and think "oh, yeah, that's rocking". For now, the kind folks at Wrightspeed have done the math for us, based on 33,705 Watt-hours per gallon of gasoline.

No offense, while the X1 is impressive, I prefer the smaller, hacker, DIY'er over a prototype.

Either way you go, Electrics can kick some butt!

Just get the range up and the price down! I'm guessing that the recharging times will remain pretty static though!

No offense taken.

The Big 3 should have been working on electric cars after the first gas crisis in the early 1970s. Instead they are still building dinosaurs while people like Plasma Boy and Wrightspeed are building viable alternatives.

Bravo to the electrics!

GM had the EV1 what seemed like a great car according to the movie "Who killed the electric car". One of the reasons I say let GM go down. Companies like Tesla and others should be given money to further advance the technology.

The EV1 could have been the beginning of consumer friendly electric cars. The president of GM said that his biggest mistake was killing the electric car. I would bet that the gasoline lobby had something to do with the demise of the EV1.

I'm in total agreement about letting GM die and giving money to electric car production.

I reallly don't think that it is just the American Auto Industry/Goverment/Industry in general that has shown a lack of forward thinking/ foresight! As consumers, we should have demanded more too!

It'll have to be another topic but, yeah! You are on the right track!

It's just a shame that this type of technology that has been available for how many years and what amount of it! Is it currently available to the average Joe!

Backspace, Thanks for the comments!

Fir_Na_Tine, If GM does infact go down, we will see not only towns go down but, also families! 1000's of families!

And in the end, where does it all go but, overseas! Another way to weakin our economy!

If the Govermant is going to give the Auto industry money, then put standards in place that hold them accountable! Don't just give them the money and say "Okay, now your fixed"!

Before this topic gets moved or locked, time to stop! Hopefuly, everyone gets the gist of it!

Tight Lines!
