Upgrades to 7 Mbs service,only getting 3.5Mbs

I upgraded to 7 Mbs service, but speeettest.net and qwest's own speed test only show 3.5 Mbs download with a 70ms

My modem (Netgear DG 834) shows 7168 kbps

The Chat CSR said that the connection was fine, and my firewall or wireless router were slowing me down.

What's the real story here?

If you're using a wireless router, first try plugging a PC directly into the modem via ethernet and retest- wireless issues often do cause low throughput.

If everything there is OK, and your stats (snr, errors, etc) are ok, call back and ask if there's evidence of congestion on the path- with the growth in subscribers and utilization per subscriber constantly rising, it happens.

@qwest.net

How do i test for the stats (snr, errors, etc ...) - I assume that the CSR checked that when he said the line was "clean"
