| reply to Valkyre The first of several Low systems and the jet stream beginning to move in over Santa Barbara and move to the south east. Light rain should start over the LA Basin about 1 to 2:am and spread to the south.
Current estimates are calling for 1 to 3 inches of rain along the coast and into the LA Basin, 1/2 to 1 inch in Orange County, 3 to 6 inches along west facing slopes of the San Gabriel's and San Bernardino Ranges.
Snow levels will start off around 6,000 feet and quickly lower to 4500 feet by morning, and 3500 feet by evening. By Tuesday morning snow levels will drop even further to between 1500 and 2000 feet affecting all passes including the 10 heading to Palm Springs.
Winds of 70 mph could occur along the upper ridges and in the Grapevine making travel in the pass likely to be closed by the CHP.
The upper Deserts, the Lucern Valley, Yucca and Joshua Tree could see periods of blowing sand, snow and rain.
The Jet stream is posed to continue to move over the south land thru Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Expect periods of rain, then showers, then more heavy rain as a series of impulses move over the area. Temps will be down 25 to 35 degrees below normal in all areas especially the deserts. Palm Springs High for tomorrow is expected to be in the 60's for an example.
12 to 18 inches of snow is expected with 24 to 35 inches of snow is possible in the Big Bear, Snow Summit Resort areas.
If you plan on going to the MT's carry chains and call CALTRANS for road conditions.

I have to admit Gary, when I was reading this earlier this evening, I was kind of skeptical. There were no clouds outside. I just went out to check the locks on the backyard gate and it's pouring! I hated that duty when I was living in an RV park in N. Idaho waiting for my house in Spokane to close. The only time in my life when I had a dog and no fenced yard to turn her loose in.
At least the park was surrounded by open land, so I didn't have to engage in that disgusting task of sticking my hand in a plastic bag and picking up the hot, steaming turds. That's one thing I've never had to do. -- Póg mo thóin |

Yea, and these few chilly morning they do steam. I stuck my thumb in a pile the other day. Oh joy. They do provide pleasantly scented bags though.

Just watched some Doofus try to go over the Vincent Thomas Bridge in his 90's Mustang, at about 70mph in pouring rain. Ended up going sideways, into the concrete barrier. He lost his front bumper and several front end parts. He then spun out of control on the downside of the bridge (towards Terminal Island), until the road leveled out. He ended up stopped, facing the wrong direction. -- My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be. |
