3 edits | reply to dhar Worst I've ever seen it tonight...the WORST...I can hardly load any websites...you know your internet has turned into jello when it takes you 60 seconds to actually load speedtest.net....and then you get this result..

Again, I actually live in New Orleans but there isn't a single dedicated thread to New Orleans...and I've heard BR and NO networks are "linked" in some sort of fashion so I post here...and if I'm experiencing the same problems they are then we have to be sharing some sort of node or something... |

| reply to dhar And just for kicks I had to post one during the day when everyone on the node is at work or at school. Just to prove it isn't an issue on my side...fully capable of hitting good speeds with my setup when the node isn't saturated.

Same here, 2:45PM before the rest of the city gets home from work/school and whatnot.

(3:45 PM local time)
After 6 PM, it'll be back to 2 Mb/s down. You could set your clock by it. |

What a difference a few hours makes. |

| reply to dhar I can't believe this has been going on for soooo long. I used to love the Cox cable modem service and rave and talk about it all the time!
Where are the Cox Tech's on this board at? Do they not have any insight for us? It's like nothing is being done. --

Not a terrible service but one that really makes you want to toss the modem out the window at times |

Well I'm guessing that something could be in the works right now or nothing is and they want to keep quiet about it until something is in the works.
If something is in the works and we're going to get a pretty good speedboost after this is all said and done, I'd imagine that marketing wants the engineers and techs to keep quiet about the whole deal.
If something isn't being done, then well...looks like we're up the river. You can't really blame the engineers and techs for that kind of decision though. I'm sure the engineers for Cox want to have the best service around and itch to make it lightning fast. But the "business" side of Cox controls that.
On a good note, I did receive a PM from louhsieng regarding my speed issues and I replied to him with my HFC MAC ID, but I have not received a response yet. Hopefully there is good news when I do get a reply.
It's 4:35PM right now and my speeds are hardly breaching 10Mbps downstream right now - just for the record, those are Preferred speeds and I'm on Premier. By 7:00PM I'm just not going to be online at all because there won't be a point. If speeds are 1/2 of what they're supposed to be right now I can only imagine what a few hours are going to bring. |

"Something" has been in the works for a while now. A few weeks ago, I was told in PM that BR received 17 node splits, but my area is still waiting on construction, with no details or ETA on when it might be done. Tonight has seemed pretty good, and this speed test reflects my impression:
(10:16 PM local time)
This is *very* unusual! Hope it's not a fluke... Anyone else notice an improvement tonight? |

2 edits | reply to dhar Lucky for you lol, I'm still hovering around 10Mbps give or take 1. 17 node splits is a lot of work. Over how long of a period has the node splitting been happening? I think they need to start splitting down here in New Orleans (Kenner).
Edit: Okay now I'm down to 6Mbps give or take 1. lol |
