Well, I took the plunge and tried out newsgroups/usenet tonight. I kept reading on how it was so great, and I gotta say it lives up to the hype . Currently I am on a 3 day trial with giganews that will roll over to their unlimited non ssl option. I've been looking around, and from what I'm seeing, I can get the equivalent for far less then giganews.

I have check out both this old tek thread and this one over on the filesharing forum. From what I've come up with I was thinking at either going with astraweb or usenetserver (and their respective unlimited options).

Both of those threads are kinda old and I just was hoping to get some fresh opinions. I'm currently leaning towards astra simply for the increased retention and 20 connections. Am I wrong? Which one should I choose or is there an option I'm missing?
