Mixed bag

Charter is a real mixed bag. IF you can get through all the dead wood, they have some really smart, helpful, and knowledgeable people working for them. But their system is set up in a manner to make it as difficult as possible to get a hold of those people. An easy example of this is that they no longer give out the number of the local offices. 99.9% of the time the front line reps do not know about an outage until after it has been fixed. Fortunately I live in St. Louis (Charter's Corporate home) and rather than seeing me down at the corp offices(again) they have given me a list of people to call. Prior to getting this list, getting a problem fixed (seems to happen about once a year) took about three months, now I can USUALLY get things straightened out in a few of days.

Now all that being said, when it works it works well. They do not cap, throttle, or generally cause me any (day in day out) issues. While I think all ISPs in the US massively overcharge for what they provide, Charter is no worse than the rest. Personally, I hope they do not have to sell out. Mostly becuase I do not want to see a cap come in and our only other choice is ATT (which has all but said that a cap will be in place by mid year).
