I've been a Charter off and on since moving to southern Illinois four years ago. I use both their analog cable and high-speed Internet and I'm usually satisfied. They sometimes have good deals to keep customers (I once paid $68/month for a year for Internet and full digital service with all premium channels).

Their video is very reliable, but their Internet goes out about 3 or 4 times a year, usually on a Friday evening or Saturday morning. It seems like they only have techs on duty during normal business hours since once it goes out, it stays out until Monday morning. When you call their tech support, you get a call center in the Philippines (I think) that simply read from a script and can't really resolve any issues.

I don't believe their service is any better or worse than any other cable company. I would hate to see them be bought out since rates would then increase faster than they already do.
