TxPres join:1999-07-22 Austin, TX | Porting out my 2nd Line I have two lines with CV on one adapter. I would like to port out my 2nd line, not the one the account is listed under.
Will they close my account, just cancel the 2nd line, or assign a new number to my 2nd line?
I don't want to cancel or close my CV account.

| Porting out your second line shouldn't close out your account since line 1 is the main line on your account. It should just cancel the 2nd line, but I'd contact AT&T after the porting process has been verified as completed to make sure the 2nd line is canceled and you're not getting charged for it anymore. |

Agreed that it should just cancel the second line. However, with the issues you've described and those experienced by burgerwars , it might be worth a call into ATT to see if porting action on the 2nd number would put the primary number in jeopardy (and if they'd let that 2nd number go!) |

fxtrPremium join:2002-09-15 Reston, VA | reply to TxPres I ported out my 2nd line to FIOS last September with no billing problems. I called AT&T and they said Verizon handles the whole process. The next AT&T bill was for 1 phone only.
There was a delay in that Verizon did not include the words "partial port" in the request to AT&T. And AT&T got confused about did I want to port one or two lines even though the request was for one-and-only-one phone number. Once Verizon resubmitted the partial port request the process went through. |

I finally got thru to a CV CS agent and she said that the port of the 2nd number would only cancel the 2nd line. If I then wanted to add the 2nd line back, I would need to go online and add it again. She also reminded me that if I went with ATT wireless I could get $5 off of each line on my CV account. I would need to call CV CS after the change and they would handle it.
Thanks to fxtr for the info on "partial port". I will try and make sure that the process is for a partial port request. I am assuming that the wireless companies know how to do that.
This will be somewhat complicated since I will be getting three cell phone lines. Two ported from my current provider which will close that account and a third ported from my CV account 2nd line.
Thanks, |

Re: Porting out my 2nd Line My issue was AT&T wouldn't let me port out a Simple Reach number. I had one line but two numbers. They would let me port the primary number, but since Simple Reach is considered a feature, they wouldn't let it be ported.
But now since CallVantage is being shut-down, maybe they'll be more open to letting virtual numbers go. Since they're not going to provide service, I would think they would be more likely to let customers port. |
