2 edits | VOIPO:: Direct SIP address
I am in the process of transfering my Viatalk # to VOIPO and until that happens I was planning on going to the Viatalk control panel and setting the 'forward' option to my direct SIP address which I was informed was number@apollo.voipwelcome.com. Anyway this forward does not work. If I put it in as: sip:number@apollo.voipwelcome.com - Then I get a weird customer not available recording
If I put it is as number@apollo.voipwelcome.com - It just goes busy after a few rings
Now if I use my direct sip address
number@mydomain:port it works fine with or without the "sip:" part.
So I thought maybe the problem was I was behind a router and the Phone adapter was reporting the ip as a 192.168 address. So I put a STUN server in the config and disabled the config download. But still the same problems. Can anyone else here dial there phone using the direct sip address? |

1 edit | reply to jrose78 What part are you confused by? I tried the sip:number@apollo.voipwelcome.com and it did not work. I also tried directing the forward from Viatalk right to the voip Gizmo by entering sip:number@myip:port and that does work.
EDIT: I changed my original post to make more sense |

1 edit | reply to jrose78 I didn't say why are you confused. I said what are you confused about and a couple lines below I had number@apollo.voipwelcome.com which should have worked anyway. You know what would be really helpful if someone can confirm that they have been able to dial there VOIPO # using a softphone and direct sip address. |

1 edit | said by dmbmar :Why wouldn't you simply forward your ViaTalk phone number to your temporary VOIPO number? No real difference, but we get a ton of VT customers asking about inbound SIP address when they port in.
Some want to do this in lieu of a temporary number so there's less confusion. I think since VT has the SIP forwarding functionality, some people also just want to use it/try it out. |

| I didn't set up a temporary # as I figured I would use the Direct SIP address until the port takes place and Viatalk has an "Internet Forward" Option in the control panel but I have yet to get that working and I have tried everything. |

If so, then as another test, why not get a free DID at IPKall.com and then direct that to your new VOIPo account. If you can receive calls that way way, then you will know that incoming SIP works to VOIPo. Then you would definitely know it's a VT problem.
And if that test does work, then maybe it could also be a temporary workaround: VT to the IPKall DID to VOIPo. |

| I set up an account with Free World Dialup and used x-lite (soft phone) to do a direct dial to my VOIPO SIP address and my VOIPO line rang and I was able to talk to myself not that I need a phone to do that . I think that rules out VOIPO if I am correct. Now to say thats its ViaTalk ... well I am not sure I want to say that just yet but it sure does point that way. |

| Just like "Hotel (VoIPTel?) California", "you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave." Little by little, the voices in your head will begin to grow louder and louder, culminating in horrific crescendos with the sound of thousands of shrieking Roseannes, all your DEVICES like diabolical beasts from hell commanding in unison to "CONNECT ME, CONNECT ME, CONNECT ME to FWD". Resistance will be futile. |
