Re: Comcast is bad for America. Yes, comcast is just horrible for America because of all those specific reasons you gave. They give me broadband, and it beats the hell out of local ISP's DSL. So to me, not so evil. |

I don't use nearly that much, so it is negligible. Price-wise, Comcast wins. Speed-wise, Comcast wins. Uptime, Comcast wins. As you can see, local DSL provider sucks. |

| I don't know what you mean by TPC. I just know there is no way in hell any other phone company will move in here since they (Granite State Telephone) are a monopoly which cannot be removed. They pretty much rape everyone for DSL/phone service because they only ones. |

| Yes, but the phone company is worse, in my area. So to me, Comcast > local phone company. Therefore, they are not some kind of evil since they provide a better service than my one and only alternative (besides dialup/satellite). But in most areas, yes I see how they are not exactly the best option, even though they are the only option. |

They withhold their RSN from satellite companies thanks to help from the politicians that comcast funneled a ton of money to through lobbyists, DSL here is only 3 Mbps, so Comcast gives you speed, but restricts usage. Their phone service here has problems every month. They move channels from basic tiers to more costly tiers every year. They have raised internet prices here. I could go into nightmares I have had with them, but don't feel like flogging the dead horse.
Bottom line is, competition should always be the goal, and it should NEVER be a competitor that is successful in thwarting it. Even if no one likes the "other" provider, that's fine, but let there be competition. Here there is even less competition than there should be because they use their RSN to keep their monopoly. If you don't get FiOS or Comcast, you don't watch Philly sports here. This is the only location in the country where that is happening, thank you Arlen Specter and FCC. |
