Re: AT&T U-Verse Keeps Digging them into a Bigger Hole!

You couldn't be more wrong. U-verse is far from a failure. It's as if 90% of the people who gripe and complain about U-verse complain just because it's cool to bash the product. Bash it with no real basis. What they think is a real problem is simply personal preference. It doesn't cater to everyone, especially the technophiles. I'm all for putting newer technologies into play, and bringing the US to the forefront in the technology field, but, it's just ridiculous at this point. For the price and what you get, U-verse is an amazing product at an even more amazing price and that's what makes it so successful.

Back fired? Not at all. It just isn't for you, that's all there is to it.
You have me all wrong Ima, I never said U-Verse was a Failure just the wrong decision. I'm an x-Telco Guy too, I retired from PacBell, but I don't consider myself a BellHead. That's what I use to call the old AT&T Management School of Thought. They tend to drag their feet, have a bunch of meetings, run long tests, and then come up with Obsolete Ideas. Yes I'm a Telco Tech Guy, I worked my way up from Operations to a Service Manager working with Marketing. I believe Pacific Bell, with the help of Al Gore, invented the Internet. I just feel AT&T took the Company in the wrong direction and they will suffer for it in the long run.

The At&t supporters in this topic look as far ahead as At&t themselves do (IE, the next quarter, and the quick buck, not to 5 years ahead)

I think the BellHeads at AT&T are running around trying to figure out what went wrong with their VDSL Copper strategy. AT&T will keep sinking and sinking until they wake up to the fact that their Copper Plan has back fired on them.

Right. That is why U-Verse reached the 1 Millionth Video Customer (just slightly) AHEAD of schedule. Because "their Copper Plan has backfired." Are you serious? Things are going as planned, if not better. U-Verse orders cannot be completed fast enough. The product sells itself.
You're right, because the Average Person doesn't know any better. All most people care about is that their High Speed is faster than Dial Up, they don't even know or care how fast it is. So like Metatron said, it's okay for today, but will it be good enough tomorrow. I say no, FTTH is the Future!

You mean for today. The plan worked for 2008.

Tell me what the plan is for 2009 and beyond?
Right! AT&T will eventually fade to black like any other company that cannot evolve and surpass or keep up with the competitors.

Comcast is beating them over the head with internet speeds, Comcast Digital Voice (which is pretty solid, BTW) and cable. At this point, I don't even know if I would try U-Verse as Comcast just keep making deals sweeter, which in turns make it harder to leave them for their "competition" AT&T.

A month ago I tried to get uverse tv. The node is right at my back yrd. It turned out the signal wasnt strong enough to handle any more than 1 tv. I have 3 so I said to forget the whole thing.
