1 edit | [Need Info] Is there something that will do bootloader prog?
Sorry for the title not being descriptive, but I don't know how to word the title in short words...
I need a program that installs on a boot disk that will recover my boot capability in Vista 64. I remember hearing of some boot disk image out there that establishes/reestablishes the boot capability of Windows and Linux.
Does anyone know what it is? -- Please: If you are lucky and can afford a good computer or so, join Teams Helix and Discovery and do the right thing: Help fight Cancer and diseases. Congratulations President Elect Obama, may great things come for all the world! YES WE CAN, God BlessUSA |

| Not what I was looking for specifically, there is some sort of bootdisk image that creates and/or restores bootloaders, I forgot that word, that is why I didn't use it until now.
Thanks for those links, I'm getting them right now, but I will want the bootloader repair/install disk if anyone knows of it... -- Please: If you are lucky and can afford a good computer or so, join Teams Helix and Discovery and do the right thing: Help fight Cancer and diseases. | reply to almex Thanks guys for this information, but no, there is a non microsoft program that you burn on a disk and bootup on, but I don't know its name. It manages/installs/repairs bootloaders.
In other words, I am looking for some software, and I don't recall the name of it. -- Please: If you are lucky and can afford a good computer or so, join Teams Helix and Discovery and do the right thing: Help fight Cancer and diseases. | reply to signmeuptoo Well, after hunting down info on my XP resolution, creating a BartPE boot-disk, to see if it was Vista compatible, I found this thread (a fellow claiming to be working on BartPE for Vista posts here): »www.911cd.net/forums//index.php?···ic=18450
Here's a good read for creation of a Vista boot-disk: »www.istartedsomething.com/200709···ry-disc/
And, here .. a discussion about using WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) for getting back into an ailing Vista system: »www.networkcomputing.com/channel···99601756
Too, if you've applicable/survivable backup storage provisions, you could always image a freshly installed Vista system, always being able to return to "smell that new car", I mean OS, state.
Good luck. -- A sticky proposition. |

| Thank you too, but still, does anyone know what this software is called that I am looking for, there IS something because I remember reading of it here at DSLR in one of the forums, perhaps this one.
I very much appreciate all the effort all of you are making, thank you SO much, but I'm still interested in the particular bootloader program, it comes in an ISO I believe, and you boot to it and then establish bootloading with it.
In any event, all of you are offering invaluable information, stuff I need to know, but I am still looking for a bootloader ISO program of a name I can't recall. -- Please: If you are lucky and can afford a good computer or so, join Teams Helix and Discovery and do the right thing: Help fight Cancer and diseases. Acronis Disk Director will install a bootloader but it's not free.
Maybe Super Grub will work? It is free. |
