Merger

If any of the other two big telcos were going to buy Qwest, they'd have done it much earlier- it's not like Qwest's situation is new, after all, and waiting until now would mean having to go through the Obama administration, while the Bush administration is far more likely to approve such a merger. That's why the Alltel-VZW merger was done when it was, for example.
