No. That wouldn't make sense. When you add somebody to a group, TekSavvy is losing $3/mth. When you refer somebody, TekSavvy loses $1/mth.
This is why I always say people should get their friends to join groups instead of referring them; on the whole, everybody saves way more money.
You can, however, be in a group and still refer people who aren't in a group. For example, I'm in a group, and also referred an Unlimited user, since they're not allowed to join groups. |

I've got two so far, altough my mom and my gf's mom are scared to switch because both had spoken to Bell recently about their rates and asking about Teksavvy and were told that the home phone service was inferior (busy signals, noisy lines) and that our DSL service was slower and had the same 60GB cap!
Jesus! That has to be illegal!
Is there a way that maybe you guys could have a page on your site illustrating the Teksavvy difference?
Like side by side comparisons to you and the telco incumbents/cablecos?
Because if you could make it easier for old people to understand that deep down:
it's the same physical copper links,
you CAN keep your phone#,
200gb OR unlimited cap VS 60GB,
Cheaper phone features $3 vs $9,
Buy your own modem $100 VS renting one $2/month
$29.99/$39.99 VS $44.95 (or more)
Local Ontario support VS India or who knows where
Hopefully I'm being clear with what I'm trying to say (I'm sleepy), I only suggest this because while I can say good shit about Teksavvy all day until I'm blue in the face...
In the end, people want to see a shiny webpage that has a chart with little pictures detailing the points of difference & sidebars explaining why these differences are important and how they matter to the end user(saving $).
Maybe there's a reason you don't make direct comparisons to the competition online, but... you really should.
If they're gonna talk shit about you, you should at least make an effort to correct the propaganda and set the record straight and hopefully that can reassure the pensive old people who have been with Bell for 20+ years and watched their monthly bill climb while the service stays the same.
Although, please don't take this the wrong way, I still love Teksavvy and am very thankful for the service you guys provide in a hostile tech climate :-D

And yes, it is indeed illegal. Although they've got a point, it IS slower, since Bell has dragged their feet about letting wholesalers offer the faster speeds. The 60GB cap garbage is bunk too, and that's also illegal.

True, but to note, Bell doesn't charge $9 for features, TekSavvy's phone service isn't really much (or any) cheaper than Bell's the big savings are in the long distance. Which is also resold Bell, but resold at a fraction the price.
Also, don't buy the modem from TekSavvy, you can get the same identical modem from Caneris for $47.
Anyhow, my parents won't switch for two reasons:
1) Last time I had them switch away from Sympatico, it was to iStop. We all know how that turned out.
2) They'll never switch phone service. Because Bell is the "phone company", and you don't switch away from the "phone company" no matter how bad things get. And they do hate Bell. But... they're the phone company. And so their business is safe based on strictly that fact. |

I don't know what you're smoking bro, but bell charges $8.95 for call answer and call display (the only features I use)

They're only $8.95 if you buy them one by one. You can get them in packs for less. So unless you only want a single feature, you're not buying a-la-cart; the packs start at two features.
In the end, it works out to be similar in pricing. As I said, it's the long distance where the savings start coming in. |

Where do you get information about group pricing?
The one thing people don;t seem to understand is that teksavvy uses bell's lines for the phone. My parents were afraid to switch becasue they thought that if the internet went out they would have no phone. It took 3-4 times of telling them for them to finally understand and make the switch. |
