I don't think you will find legitimate games like the ones listed here (or older games) available free to download. But I'm not so sure, so keep searching :)

If you join Steam, you can buy a lot of old games and such for $5 to $10. Some of them are true classics.

I always try and play through a game at least once without cheating and then go through it again on the hardest setting and use the cheat codes. It can be alot of fun. Well, depending on the game of course. Some games are ruined by cheating, others can be very entertaining using cheats.

Ive played MMO's for 10 years, and Darkfall has actually been in development for 8 years, longer then most MMO's. Again, 8 years of development its already launching outdated and the current condition its in is scary for that much dev time. Darkfall is going to be a pathetic joke. Its been in development over 5 years and in its current state is STILL not ready for launch. you got the big name blizzard games which will sell millions regardless of the quality. there's natural Selection, which may be extraordinary but not my type of game. everything else...i dont see one non-multi platform title that looks good enough to buy. Dawn of War 2 will probably be good though. like all the FPS games these days are mutli-platform and suffer from being consolized.

I'm happy that they're taking their time and making the final and closing episode in the Half-Life series something special (at least I heard it was the final). One can hope they are anyway. It needs to be long (which has been a complaint about others episodes) and needs to tie up all those loose ends nice and tidy. Fingers crossed.

Edit: Oh and also Alpha Protocol (RPG), but don't know an awful lot about it atm. It was made by the creators of Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2. Should be interesting.

Dark Void is worth mentioning as well.
