[IE] Strange OE After Installing MS Patches

Not sure if this is related, but my OE has never done this before installing the latest MS patches. In OE, I have my column of folders on the left, and on the right, my email messages sit above my preview pane. Now, in my OE screen, when I highlite a new *unread* message to preview, all of my folders on the left and list of mail messages on the right, will enitely disappear and refresh. Thoughts?

Don't use Preview Pane! Gee, I learned that 8-9 years ago. Never use that in OE.

I will plead ignorance. A serious question, why is that? What are the implications?

The way I have it set(?), I've never had a problem, and if there has been something nasty, my AV has always caught it.

Some nasties can execute just by allowing an email to open in the preview pane. Your AV *may* catch them.....or it may not. Not worth the chance IMO.

You can safely use the preview window if you do not allow pictures to be displayed. Resulting in a pop up of sorts like the Xp popup blocker which you would have to click on to allow the pictures.
