Comcast Seattle Adds 29 New HD Channels

Yes, 29 new HD channels are now on the program guide. Some still say One Moment Please, but most are on. Here is the rundown:
517 - Encore 1 HD
530 - Starz 4 HD
531 - Starz 6 HD
533 - Starz 2 HD
620 - Speed HD
622 - ESPNews HD
649 - WE HD
650 - Style HD
651 - E! HD
652 - Bravo HD
653 - Lifetime HD
654 - Travel Channel HD
655 - Fox News Channel HD
656 - Fox Business News HD
657 - CNN HD
658 - CNBC HD
664 - TBS HD
665 - FX HD
680 - Cartoon Network HD
681 - Toon Disney HD
690 - Fuse HD
691 - TVOne HD
692 - QVC HD
693 - G4 HD
694 - Biography Channel HD
695 - Green Channel HD
697 - AMC HD
698 - Lifetime Movie Network HD
699 - IFC HD

So including the 8 local HD channels, this brings to 64 the total of HD channels Comcast now offers in the Seattle area. And they just boosted the internet to 12 and 16 Mbps, with options for 22 and 50 Mbps.

We were supposed to have 50~60 HD channels by the end of the year in the Central PA region. I only count 36 in Reading, PA.

Comcast never ceases to amaze me. Even the Philly guys (Comcast hometown no less) has less than I do.

I think this market can beat that for lack of HD channels, here's the grand total available with Comcast in this area-

707 Discovery Channel - HD Lifestyle
711 ESPN - HD Sports
721 CSN California- HD Sports
750 HBO - HD Movies
751 Showtime - HD Movies
752 Starz - HD Movies
760 MOJO- HD High-Definition TV

I'm glad we have Directv for our tv service. We have Comcast's HSI service, and that rocks, but their tv lineup here really leaves a lot to be desired.

760 MOJO- HD High-Definition TV--This station ceased broadcasting last year. You might want to update your HD line up.

It's not mine, it's on Comcast's channel listing for this area. Just go to »www.comcast.com/Customers/Clu/Ch···lpos=Nav and put in my zip 95470 (Redwood Valley, CA) and you can see what they list for Mendocino County.

Is Seattle 100% digital now?

I got the flyer today, but no new channels here in South Hill Puyallup/Graham. Guess I'll reboot the box later if they don't show up soon.

Wow. Why hasn't Comcast ever heard of consistancy? I mean that's great you guys got these channels. It's great Boston's got their channels and Chicago's got theirs. I'm here in State College, PA wondering when are we going to get on par with the rest of Comcast. I realize we were Adelphia here a few years ago, but come on now, hook us up to that fiber backbone that carries all of those channels.

Engineers need to start paying attention to Comcast's home state. I mean, State College is home of Penn State University. Pennsylvania has some big cities (Philly and Pittsburg). Why is PA ignored Comcast? Can someone answer that?

Does the Seattle / Tacoma area for Comcast include Olympia?

I'm in the Tacoma area and not receiving the New HD channels. I guess it just the Seattle market.

I live in the Lynnwood/Edmonds area and I don't have any of these stations, with either a HD box or TiVo HD via CC.

Confirmed these new 29 channels in Mercer Island, WA.

Unfortunately these channels are not yet in my guide data. I'm not using a Comcast receiver, but a Windows Media Center PC that gets its guide data from zap2it.com.

I subscribe to Comcast in Seattle and the info in that post is not correct. I picked five or six test channels from the post and none of them were accurate- some were other he channels (like 699, which is HD on demand, not G4-HD), others were not accessable from the cable box, and none of them showed up in the HD program guide.

Maybe those changes are in the works, but they are not active for all of Comcast in Seattle and there are no messages from Comcast indicating this in the inbox or in the bill.

I've had these channels in my line up for the last three days or so. I can access all but 2 or 3. I live in Kirkland and use a TivoHD with an M Card. So it's not mis-information at all.

Re: Complete misinformation

Maybe not misinformation, but still doesn't apply to all Comcast customers. Can they randomly turn these on? I've asked 5 friends who all live within a few blocks of me in downtown Seattle, only 1 of them had these channels. I am still without any of them.

wkupike2000

Can someone tell me how to get these channels to show up? I live in downtown Seattle and tried every channel listed. Not a single one is accessible on my box.

I'm in University Place (Tacoma) and I have all these in my program guide as of last night. A couple still say "Please Wait..." But at this time it is only a couple.

It's not misinformation, it's only the first batch of neighborhoods. The rest of the market will get them next year (don't ask for a date). The 3.0 upgrade is also compete for entire WA.

No Comedy Central? Damn. I don't know if you have this problem in Seattle, but across the Sound, over here in Kitsap County, Comedy Central picture quality is very poor. Certain colors (mainly yellows) are overlaid with a series of striped vertical lines. (This problem affects a few other channels, too, but all of those have HD versions available, which do not have the problem). The affected colors occur often in "South Park", where the lines are very distracting.

I've given up hope that Comcast will actually fix this, as it has been this way for as long as I've had Comcast (a couple years). It's definitely not at my end, because (1) friends report it, too, (2) it doesn't show up with the same material on other channels (e.g., commercials that happen to have the affected colors). (And I know it is not a problem at Comedy Central, because it does not show up on DirectTV's Comedy Central feed).

Comedy Central HD was just introduced on January 13th. Systems of Cablevision (NY area) are the first to get it. Cox and DirecTV will start introducing it later this month.

They have very little native HD programming at present. Season 13 of SOUTH PARK (March 11th) will be HD, along with a few other programs (SARAH SILVERMAN,etc). THE DAILY SHOW and THE COLBERT REPORT are not produced in HD as yet.

Another wonderful thing about Comcast, introduce new channels to some, but not all!! No indication on my receivers about any of these channels. I live in Bellevue area. I am sure I will get them eventually but this is one of the things that drives me nuts about them.

Re: Comcast Seattle Adds 29 New HD Channels

here is the Washington state issue

some nodes have been upgraded to 870mhz while some are still at 750mhz

870mhz=135 RF channel slots
750mhz=116 RF channel slots

it looks like your areas 750mhz nodes are maxed out the limit.

here in my area we had a rebuild from 750mhz to 870mhz motorola line gear this year .

it payed off twc added 30 new hd channels in the newly added bandwidth.

they also added DS.

cburnham

@microsoft.com

I have all the new channels on both the Comcast box and TiVo S3. The only problem I've had with TiVo is getting guide data to populate. I'm assuming the TiVo guide just doesn't know about these channels even though I can access them through the tuner.

I got a flier in the mail today talking about the new channels as of 12/19 - I don't have them either. If they aren't actually available, then why send out a flier if it's not available?

Re: Comcast Seattle Adds 29 New HD Channels

FYI - I called them and they sent out a new signal to the box which didn't look like it took, but after about 30 min, the new channels showed up, so you might want to try having them do that...

Me too and I call it false advertising...

svander1

@verizon.net

Nothing in the south Everett area yet. A "flash" of the box didn't work either. I'm having the box swapped tomorrow for a separate issue anyway although I doubt it would have anything to do with the channels becoming available where I live.

I did get a message on my HD box that the cable speeds had doubled so I wouldn't think it's a bandwidth issue (although I clearly don't know).

I'm also switching to their broadband service soon (tired of waiting for Fios from Verizon) but I already have a cable connection (work provided) so I don't know how that would work.

DB333

@irportsecurity.org

I had to call Comcast to have them reset the box in order to get the new HD channels. They did not appear automatically. Most, with atleast the digital starter package, should she an increase of HD options even if you live in the suburbs. I am right on the King/Snohomish line and got all of the new channels.
