I was under the impression that we should be seeing them soon, but I just called Comcast and according to the CSR that I talked to (I know, not the most reliable source) we in certain areas of Seattle (I'm in West Seattle) may not see these new HD channels until November or December! She claimed the reason is because a while back, when lines were upgraded, Seattle area was first, and therefore now has older lines than the surrounding areas that will need upgrading before the HD channels can be added.<br><br>I really hope this is just another case of the Comcast support people providing the wrong information. ]]></description>

I had a Comcast cable box on one of my TVs - was about to watch the end of the baseball game, and low and behold even that TV gave me a screen that said I needed a DTV converter box.  Turns out the cable box was bad.  Changed it out and it was fine but did miss the rest of the game.  I don't understand what the big deal is.  It's not like Maple Valley or Covington is out in the sticks but we have no real choices out here.]]></description>

This is after getting mailers from Comcast in March saying they were starting the switchover and a mailer in April saying that on the 17th all of their upgrades would be complete.  I even hooked up a old CRT tv i have in the garage to see if the analogs were gone and they were.  Everything from 30 up to 74 were out.  I guess i'll keep waiting because i'm not getting 50meg FIOS out in this area anytime soon. Thanks Comcast!]]></description>

I've seen  pictures of the box they are using and its as long and wide as a tivo box. Time Warner is using a much smaller box. The channels should be available to all later this year.<br><br>Once we all get DTA's, the HD channels will be broadcasted to everybody because they will not have to broadcast the same channels 3x (SD, Analog and HD). I'm having the box swapped tomorrow for a separate issue anyway although I doubt it would have anything to do with the channels becoming available where I live.<br><br>I did get a message on my HD box that the cable speeds had doubled so I wouldn't think it's a bandwidth issue (although I clearly don't know).<br><br>I'm also switching to their broadband service soon (tired of waiting for Fios from Verizon) but I already have a cable connection (work provided) so I don't know how that would work.]]></description>

I don't know if you have this problem in Seattle, but across the Sound, over here in Kitsap County, Comedy Central picture quality is very poor.  Certain colors (mainly yellows) are overlaid with a series of striped vertical lines.  (This problem affects a few other channels, too, but all of those have HD versions available, which do not have the problem).  The affected colors occur often in "South Park", where the lines are very distracting.<br><br>I've given up hope that Comcast will actually fix this, as it has been this way for as long as I've had Comcast (a couple years).  It's definitely not at my end, because (1) friends report it, too, (2) it doesn't show up with the same material on other channels (e.g., commercials that happen to have the affected colors).  (And I know it is not a problem at Comedy Central, because it does not show up on DirectTV's Comedy Central feed).]]></description>

I realize we were Adelphia here a few years ago, but come on now, hook us up to that fiber backbone that carries all of those channels.<br><br>Engineers need to start paying attention to Comcast's home state. HD<br>652 - Bravo HD<br>653 - Lifetime HD<br>654 - Travel Channel HD<br>655 - Fox News Channel HD<br>656 - Fox Business News HD<br>657 - CNN HD<br>658 - CNBC HD<br>664 - TBS HD<br>665 - FX HD<br>680 - Cartoon Network HD<br>681 - Toon Disney HD<br>690 - Fuse HD<br>691 - TVOne HD<br>692 - QVC HD<br>693 - G4 HD<br>694 - Biography Channel HD<br>695 - Green Channel HD<br>697 - AMC HD<br>698 - Lifetime Movie Network HD<br>699 - IFC HD<br><br>So including the 8 local HD channels, this brings to 64 the total of HD channels Comcast now offers in the Seattle area.
