| [Availability] New UVERSE Box in Hoover/Birmingham, AL? The one that caught my attention is the one on the far right in the first picture with the blue lettering. They have been working in Hoover on a lot of the DSLAM's. But this brand new box that say's AT&T from what the tech that was out there said, was a new UVERSE Box? Is this true, anyone heard of when B'Ham should launch? I am just way to excited to get away from Charter.

This new box is on South Shades Crest Road. Right by my house. -- I get 29 MPG in my Toyota Highlander Hybrid! |

 | It may have, but I took this right at Hoover was letting out so I didn't have much time to inspect it, I will later. But I had to get out of there before the traffic jams. I sure hope it is a VRAD though. |

Re: [Availability] New UVERSE Box in Hoover/Birmingham, AL? Don't hold your breath. VRADs are showing up like weeds around here for going on months, but UVERSE is still not available for ordering. It will be one day, but there appears to be no correlation between presence of a VRAD and quick availability of UVERSE. The tech working in one whom I asked said it could be about three months before the sales people start after they finish the install. -- nohup rm -fr /& |

 | reply to iLive4Fusion Do I see four VRADs (three big, one small) and an RT? That's an impressive stand of equipment. |

My Neighborhood is within walking distance. I mean it's off a major road that connects 3+ cities together. If you don't want it to be noticed, then deploy TV by LTE right now, or bury or hang them on telephone poles |

Most of the people around here would would most likely die if a VRAD popped up in front of their homes, so I guess they put all the big telephone equipment in an isolated area. But it's right off the main road, most people don't pay attention like they would in neighborhoods. |

So this area is probably looking at earliest probably Q3 of next year.. Wish they could deploy UVERSE like they raise prices. |

| Don't mind him splitpair, hes just pretending to be a big player in ATT.. If he really had any concerns for his company's future he'd stop being an @$$ and read up on complaints on lack of service in areas and get to it.. But he rather play cop instead |

jberger join:2005-10-03 Birmingham, AL | reply to iLive4Fusion You need to hit the uverse link on ATT's site to see if you are eligible in Hoover. The old "fast access" links don't work for uverse.
They are taking signup's now for Hoover, but check out the costs before you make the switch. I don't see any compelling reason to sign up unless you just really hate Charter and don't want to deal with DirecTV. Based on the packages, I'm still better off using a combination of Charter and DirecTV than any of the Uverse offerings. |

dlathemPremium join:2000-08-11 Birmingham, AL | I just saw the story in the Birmingham News about U-VERSE in our area. Unfortunately, I don't hate Charter bad enough to pay the prices they want for their service. At a time when the economy is in the dumps do they really think folks will pay out significantly more to get the same service that may, or may not, be better?
What a let down. The system does not show me being qualified, but I suspect it will soon as the box shown above is not to far from my house. |
