DOCSIS 3.0 Available in Tacoma, WA

Well, I just upgraded to the 22/5 Ultra here in Tacoma, WA over the phone. The repair tech said that I only needed to power cycle my EMTA (RCA DHG536) and that I'd have the new speeds.

So, 6.2 Mbps and 4 Mbps is my sustained speed. I don't think that the 22/5 is on here yet. If I do a standard speed test (speedtest.net) I get:

I think that is due to Powerboost on my 8/2 connection. This is a wired connection through a D-Link WBR-1310 router.

So... was the repair tech wrong? Do I need a DOCSIS 3 modem? What's the deal here? This new speed tier is going to cost me an additional $20 per month. I'd love the new speed, but I'm not going to pay more for something that doesn't work.

Also, here is the info from the EMTA that I can get from it:

RF Parameters
Downstream
Frequency 597 MHz Power -9 dBmV

Upstream

I was told 2 answers when I asked..I was first told that I didn't need a new modem for either the 22 or the 50 tiers..but then after another person talked to manager..I was told that for both the 22 and the 50 you needed a docsis 3.

Hah, I just talked to a fellow in St. Louis (our local repair center is in Everett, WA...) who said that I DID need a DOCSIS 3 modem for this speed tier. Unbelievably I got a tech coming out tomorrow 8-12 to upgrade me. I simply can't believe that they are getting someone out next day. It's been my experience that upgrade calls usually take 2+ weeks!! I'll report tomorrow on how it goes!!

Well the speeds are fine here but I still can't use the splitter with my modems..

Re: DOCSIS 3.0 Available in Everett, WA

I have The 50 Tier from Comcast Here in Everett, It required a new modem on Docsis 3(However only bonding 2) I had the 22 and that ran on Docsis 2(Confirmed)and the new modem Motorola SB6120 Is Confirmed to Be DOCSIS 3 and capable of up to 131MBS On 4 Channels or 32 On 1 Down and Same on UP. (»www.motorola.com/business/US-EN/···b00aRCRD) The Tech that came out for the install said to look for the speeds to go up considerably again on FEB12 as this is when the 50 Tier will be fully implemented. The 50 Tier does NOT have speedboost and is running currently on 2 Channels.
