Usenet / Newserver Speed Capped to 1200 kB/s. Ugh

Anyone else experience this?

I am running on giganews servers, yet my speed seems to be capped at 1200. I have 15/2 so that's not the issue. I have also tried changing the port as well as doing SSL yet RR still caps my speed. Any ideas why?

@rr.com

How long have you had this issue with speed? Do you have a wireless network? How many connections are you using in your news program? What news program do you use? How long have you had it? What other programs are you using on that pc. IE Limewire, BT clients, etc.

Several reasons could contribute to why you are getting slower speeds. FWIW I get full dl speeds from Giganews in Los Angeles. It may be you.

yea im getting the same thing my speedtest shows i can download more than 1200KBs but for some reason it wont go past 10 megs even though the speedtest shows diff. i think RR is capping people on there downloads speeds.

Could it be that GigaNews simply caps every connection at 10 Mbps?

Gettin' 20 Mbps with Astraweb.

PowerBoost seems to work well with Usenet. lol

I use EarthLink's outsourced NSP (GigaNews [was SuperNews]), and sometimes I max out (600ish KB/sec). Other times, it gets slower. Like now, I only get 200+ KB/sec.

Odd. I have contacted giganews and they said there is no cap on their end.

It seems I'm not the only one, as my friend who lives in Westwood (I'm in Bev Hills) and uses a different news server, but RR is capped at 1200 as well.

I'm running a 1gb to my router, nothing extra running etc. Using alt Binz. Using 8 connections, even when I go up to 9,10 or 11 etc it wont move up.

It also seems they are capping my Torrent speeds as well, I only now see about 450kb a second.

Nah its not Giganews.

Cause my brother lives in a new building put up and they have FOIS and i loged onto giganews and i was able to 15mbps on download with no problem. but @ home its only allowing me up to 10mbps.

perhaps the connection youre paying for is capped at 10mbps..
Post your speedtest.net result here.
