You are forgetting about the DUMBED DOWN music the big labels shit out on a monthly basis.
Yeah also very true. My wife finds more great music on MySpace through bands websites than what is being promoted by the big labels with advertising campaigns.
I would rather support a band trying to make it and actually performing good music then buying the next big mass-produced label of music that all sounds the same.

I use Myspace for checking new artists out from time to time and to see if I like them before buying but I totally ignore the big label artist promotions for mainstream junk.
