 | Forgotten Password so i have been using bitlord as my torrent opener program for a couple of months and things have been taking forever. I realized that's because i didn't have a port set aside for the program. Now i asked my friend and looked it up online and so far the both have told me that i need to log in to my modem and map a port. Well i don't know the password! i tried 123, password, and everything from the name of my router to every number on the side of the router and nothing worked. I wasn't there when they set up the router so i don't know what it is. Is there anyway to map a port or forward a port without loggin into the router? if not then what, should I do?
btw i have verizon fios and my router was not listed on your site. please help |

| If none of the passwords work just hold in the reset button on the back for 10-15 seconds. When the router reboots the user name is admin and the password is password.
And note: VERY IMPORTANT..!!
BEFORE you do a System Reset on your router to reset the password, think about this- resetting the router this way will change EVERYTHING back to its out of the box settings.
That means if there is anything that NEEDS to be configured for your Internet connection to work, IT TOO will be turned off, and will have to be re-configured before your Internet connection will work again. -- Please use the "yellow (IM) envelope" to contact me and please leave the URL intact. |

 | reply to Wowiekusowie Try password1 - a lot of the installers change it to that when they setup the router. -- REMEMBER: Stupidity should be painful !! |

Hope this helps, Cheers, ADSL Geek -- I have always maintained that a helpdesk should be there to help. I maintain this preposterous notion despite the commonly held belief they are there to blindly answer calls. |

 | reply to More Fiber Fair call - I stand corrected
That should of course read
Also some brands of DSL Modem or Router reset to other country settings.
As an aside I have not really agreed with the use of the word modem, cause they aren't modulating or demodulating in the same manner that modems do, so if we are being pedantic we shouldn't really be calling ADSL modems that at all.
Most people use it for USB DSL devices which marks them different.
But I gave up that argument a few years ago, and just went with the flow (eg most people are calling DSL routers modems and visa versa) - but you are right this one is for sure a router..
