Who Pays?

Well, at least one Louisiana ISP is saying that, if the RIAA doesn't pony-up, they won't be assisting with enforcement.

i sure hope other ISPs follow that Louisiana ISP's lead of cough up lots of money if you want our help. what i'd also like to see is ISPs get on board with the MAFIAA only if the MAFIAA pays up and then implement a really crappy filtering system for dirt cheap and pocket the rest of the money being given to the ISPs by the MAFIAA.

Since 99% of all music and TV is nothing but crap these
days, it's amazing this is even a topic.

I look at it this way, I pay my bill on time, I demand the
service I paid for. As long as my bill is paid on time,
and in full, that is the ONLY thing my ISP should be
concerned with. They're in business to make money.
That's the bottom line, not be a babysitter for some
half-assed association that doesn't produce anything.

An ISP that starts sending me letters on behalf of some
association I don't do business with will no longer have
my business. I don't buy music. I can find it on the net
at any of the free radio sites. There are sites where you
can type in what you want, and it will play for you.
Speaker Out to Mic In on a soundcard and I can record it
with no one being the wiser. Since I can listen to the
music I want to listen to as many times as I want online,
why bother to go to all that trouble?

I do agree with cutting off a PC that's spewing spam and
viruses. After all, such behavior affects an ISP's network
negatively. Bottom line. I demand the service I pay for.
If you as an ISP can't or won't provide it, then I'll find
an ISP who will. Had a fun time many years ago with an
ISP in Oregon. The guy on the phone said quote: "You'll
never have internet access again." 5 minutes later, I
emailed him from a new account at another ISP.
Reason for me being cut off? Too many calls to their
service department. I told the new ISP's tech guy what
the first ISP said, and he laughed.
I just love it when people give me an attitude and think
they have some sort of control over what I can and can't
do with my computer. I bought it, paid for it, and that
means it's mine. When someone buys me a PC, pays my
electricity bill, and pays for my internet access, then
maybe when I'm old and feeble at the age of 125, then
they can possibly attempt to tell me what to do.

Eventually Mr. Scroggin will find his measly 11k customers without their ISP, through the handiwork of the RI/MPAA Lawyers and Lobbyists. They will simply pay off (a) neighboring competitor(s) to squish him. Can anyone say, "Obstructing a federal investigation"? Mr. Scroggin better learn before this one bites him in the ass, HARD!
