I Still Buy CD's

Until DRM is much more fare or gone I will continue to buy all my music as CD's. Since most think DRM isn't going away looks like I'm screwed Christmas time next year. Besides, my HDD's like to die on me a lot, so I just feel safer having it on a physical medium anyways.

Re: I Still Buy CD's

Ok, so the record industry is going to cut off it's other foot with this one. I know this may come as a surprise to most people these days but there are still many people in this country that don't have or use computers. Are you going to tell them that they can no longer buy music because we are going entirely digital?

Like other I will continue to buy cd's. Downloaded music isn't my thing, I prefer having an actual product in my hand when I pay my money.

You can buy VBR mp3 files with no DRM from amazon.com for the same price or cheaper than DRM files from other sources.

Thanks, I thought Amazon used DRM too. I guess I'll go check them out then.

Nope not in well over a year. Rhapsody just got rid of DRM on tracks you purchase too. Napster doesn't have DRM either. Basically only Itunes still uses DRM.

Also check out www.emusic.com. They have a more eclectic selection of newer stuff, but they also have a killer selection of oldies (once again, depending on your tastes). I also like how you get tracks for a MUCH lower price than the other services.

eMusic uses a bulk download system that lets you buy on a per-track basis--regardless of track length. I like a lot of new age stuff and I can grab an entire album consisting of one long 80 minute composition for the same price as a two minute oldie...all without any DRM.
