Comfortable Computer Chair for a Big Guy?

Hey there guys. One of my best buds is an offensive lineman for a college team. We are roomies and one thing he always, always complains about is the computer chair. He has actually broken 2 in the last 2 years. One the metal bottom actually bent to the point it just would flop forward, which led to hilarious moments, and the most recent victim is a wheel decided to crack off.

The guy is about 310 pounds and roughly 6'4". As stated, he is a big dude.

Anyway, all of us roommates want to pool together some money and get birthday gift that will really make him happy, and we know a really comfortable, sturdy computer chair will make him happy.

Any suggestions on what to buy in terms of a comfortable, potentially ergonomic computer chair that can support a beast like him?

Thanks!!

Check out »www.globaltotaloffice.co ··· ustries/. We got my boss a chair there (they call it the big boy chair unofficially) as he weighs closer to 350lbs, it's lasted him two years with no visible signs of wear. You will likely have to call them directly and find a local distributor. Be warned, they don't make anything cheap.

Go to an office furniture store and look at their chairs. Or, used chairs. That is the place you find what you really need.

No way; that's like driving a car at redline full time. A dangerous idea.

From Steelcase's spec pages on that chair there's a different model line, "Criterion Plus", that's far more appropriate:
Criterion Plus has an
upright back lock and offers
a wider seat with more
space between the arms
to accommodate workers
who need a larger chair.
The Criterion Plus chair is
tested to hold up to 500 lbs.
under normal use.
