Packaged Services Cable/Phone/Internet Bundles = $7.50 Cable/Phone = $5.50 Cable/Internet = $5.50 Phone/Internet = $2.00 Cable Only = $5.00
Premium Channels 1 Premium = $1.00 2 Premiums = $2.00 3 Premiums = $2.00 All Premiums = $1.00
Subs Sports Pak = $1.00
Plus now local over the air stations are going to start charging providers for rebroadcast rights aka (nbc, abc, cbs and fox)
I'm not sure if the major networks started this with the digital push for this feb. or if the locals just want to recoup money for installing there new digital transmitters. I know for sure that WMBB just installed a new digital transmitter a few days back they even aired a story about it on there news cast.
Great time to be upping prices given the current economy around these parts. |

Broadcasts now see a "goldmine" in digital TV. They multiplex their HD signal for additional AD revenue on subs feeds, which offers a sub-par signal. WJHG looks terrible with 3 sub feeds. There is so much macroblocking on their MyTV and CW channels I record the Dothan ones as they only have 2 sub feeds. (but both are owned by Gray Media so go-figure).
Knology says my bill will go up $2 because broadcasters are now wanting money to retransmit their signal (read: because they now can per FCC). Yet I DON'T HAVE TV. I only have phone/internet. Why is my bill going up?!
They show cable alone goes up $5 They show cable/phone goes up $5.50 They show cable/internet goes up $5.50
I therefore see phone/internet going up .50 + .50 - but NOOOOO, it's $2.00!!! Yet their letter tells me it's because of local broadcaster increases!!! Again, I don't have cable TV so why am I being charged more?! What have they done to phone lately? To internet? NOTHING!!! , but increase price.
Now companies wonder why they can't make it and are going bankrupt.
I say drop the broadcasters! If they loose all those eyeballs in front of the TV, what would that do to their advertising structure?! Broadcasters say cable is charging to rebroadcast their "free" signal. I say they are providing a service so folks don't have to "d*ck" around with an antenna and rotator!!! AND they provide additional basic channels. PROVE they are charging for locals! I say they give them for free and only charge for the others!!! |
