Wow !! Surprised me.

Since there was a substantial amount of volunteer work contributed to the site, it is a shame that some better solution could not be found to recognize the countless hours of work from the many that contributed.

It looks like they cannot even be used as a historical reference and all the great info stored there is lost to the Internet Community forever.

They blocked all chances of having an archive.

Noooooo....! I can't believe they blocked an archive of the site. WHY????

Sigh. I was just over at Kye's forums asking if there was any way he could retrieve the Proxo forums from Castlecops for archiving at his site. Sidkihas just come back for public Proxo. He had a forum at Castlecops and posted his return announcement there just before Castlecops was closed. He's had a forum there for years and he obviously was not told that Castlecops was closing. I wonder if any of those with forums there were told?

All the volunteer effort at that site and not even an archive? I don't understand.

OT, but yes he is back and check KyeU's forums. He is posting there. Big things ...collaborative efforts unfolding for Proxo..so time to celebrate for us Proxo lovers...and at the very same time it is a time to be sad regarding Castlecops.

But dslr is archived at the Wayback Machine and that is the archive we are talking about. (Besides, dslr has not been closed forever. Maybe there are no longer archives of dslr at the Wayback Machine...I don't know as I haven't checked in a long while...but I would like to think that if this site was shut down forever that a historical archive would be allowed at the Wayback Machine). I can't believe that Paul would do this. It is not just so folks can access out of fondness, etc. but the Wayback Machine preserves the history of the internet and for Paul to deliberately block that historical preservation astounds me.

Back when CastleCops was known as ComputerCops, i had a major spyware hijacking issues, and the guys there really helped me fix my PC.
Its so sad to see the site closed.

What's really sad is all the people who donated to get new servers might be alittle angry, myselif included. Everything went to hell for me when they locked the folding@home forums last year, that's when I joined the mighty dslreports team!
