| Line Issue
Two days ago I upgraded to the Elite from Pro and dropped WirePro to save or at least break even with my monthly bill. Yesterday I had to cycle my modem three times to get it going and today when I called they said I had a line issue and they are going to escalate my call.
My question is, since I just dropped WirePro, what is the possibility that the issue is with the wiring inside my home? About three weeks ago, the entire phone line to my house went dead for about a minute.

| I see you aren't syncing at full speeds. There are several tests that you can perform that will demonstrate if the problems are due to your inside wiring.
First please run this DMT tool at your inside DSL jack and post the text results and a link to the chart or a copy of it: »SBC DSL FAQ »How can I check for the maximum attainable sync speeds with a 5100b/4100 modem? Then check and post the hybrid number your modem is using in your modem log: »192.168.0.1/log.htm This FAQ explains about the hybrid numbers: »192.168.0.1/log.htm. They mostly show problems on the inside wiring.
Then you will need to repeat the above tests at your NID: »AT&T Southeast Forum FAQ »How to check modem stats, synch rates & speeds from test jack at the NID. A comparison of the first set of stats with the second should be able to prove if your inside wiring is the problem.  |

If you test at the NID as d_l has suggested, then you can either rule out the inside wire as an issue or prove that it is the issue. |

The AT&T tech just left and stated that my phone to the house wasn't capable of 6MB and is going to drop me back down to 3MB. Good news that it didn't cost me any money, but bad news that I am not going to get the increase in speed.... |
