Re: So What?

PS3 is boring. Wii = Fun.

In a college, the dorm kids with the PS3s never played them because they were always playing Xbox or Wii. PS3s are absolutely overpriced worthless pieces of shit. Everyone that has one never uses it.

I am speaking for a building that had over 1000 people.
PS3s were just no fun.

Well, despite your outlook on it, I've had a lot of fun with mine and I'm positive I'm not the only one. Just my opinion. Over-priced? Yes, definitely. Worthless piece of shit? I couldn't disagree more.

Bah, I've seen Blue-Ray players costing $100 now.
So the Xbox 360 is a better investment since more games are released to it.

"PS3s are absolutely overpriced worthless pieces of shit."

You two sound like two rednecks arguing over ford and chevy. I don't see where the PS3 is so over priced considering the PS3 is about $100 more but you get a Blue-Ray player at the same time.

I've got all 3. The Wii is fun with a group of friends. I have more fun watching my 5 year old playing with the Wii than playing it my self. I don't really feel that the PS3 is that much greater than the 360 and vice versa. There are features I like about both of them. If I HAD to pick between the two I would go with the PS3 because the majority of my friends have a PS3. If most of them had a 360 then I would pick a 360.

The Wii isn't really meant to compete with the PS3 or Xbox360. My PS3 gets the most use because of the blue ray player. I don't like having paying for xBox live but it's worth the price. I think the online experience is better with xBox live where it's a craps shoot with the PS3 games.

Blu Ray will never catch on. It will DVDs or something else. Technology changes too fast.

Sadly most people with PS3s never use the bluray player, they just play their xbox or wii instead.

I rarely take the time to respond to nonsense but I can't help it.

A very large portion of the PS# audience is in fact using their PS3 as a blue-ray player. Do you have any facts to back up ANY of the nonsense you've posted in this thread? Did you actually survey the 1000 people in your dorm to come up with anything amount of scientific facts to back up your previous statement? You have filled my quota of internet stupid for the day so thanks! Whew! Glad to have that part of the day over!

The same thing was said about DVDs because you couldn't record on them like VHS tapes.

Huh? That is just some jumbled words.

"Sadly most people with PS3s never use the bluray player, they just play their xbox or wii instead."

Oh really. Care to backup your argument?

OMG this is useless.

To r81984:

Sadly, you wouldn't know if most people with PS3s use or never use their blu-ray players, because you've stated that you don't have one to speak of.

Although, it is true, something, at some time, will overtake blu-ray, but it will probably be at least 5 years before netflix over your internet connection is actually feasible (think about all of the people in the MidWest that have a 768K connection for $58/Month).

What I'm waiting for is 3G that is faster than my home internet connection (6 Mb/1 Mb).

That's the second unsupported blanket statement you've made (or at least what you've extrapolated from your dorm). Where are your sources or statistics to back your claims up on a wide-scale basis, not just your little dorm microcosm? There are people who use game systems who *gasp* aren't in college. . .

I have a PS3 and I own about 15 Blu-ray movies. It is my only downstairs DVD player so it gets used all the time for DVD AND Blu Ray. Blu Ray may be supplanted by downloadable video eventually but the PS3 will still have use as a game system and a home media server even if Blu Ray withers and dies.

Unless you've got some hard numbers, you should cut the "most people" and "x will never" crap. You have no idea what "most people" think of or do with their PS3s.

I've got a PS3 and a Wii and I think each fills a particular niche.

Actually, the Wii is my wife's--she wanted it for the Wii fit board, and I have to say, the exercise games available for it are pretty impressive and can really get you off your ass working out. It gives good feedback on how you're doing and works with you to reach goals you set. The Wii is economical, compact, sturdy, and relatively simple. It's also got some fun games and a unique controller system. My biggest complaint with the Wii is they've got a perfectly good platform to permit DVD playback and yet they left that out. Nobody seems to know quite why. You can hack it to get that working but it shouldn't be necessary to "aftermarket" it to do something so relatively simple these days.

On the other hand, the PS3 is a sledgehammer when it comes to game processing power with 1080p and up to 60fps. Yes, it's expensive, and complex, but it does one hell of a job at making Call Of Duty 4 and Devil May Cry 4 mind-blowing games. Add to that the fact that it can stream audio, video, and photos from media servers on the network, intereacts on the LAN and WAN with the PSP, plays DVDs and Blu-ray and it's a nice all-in-one system. Any perceived shortage of games will resolve itself in a year or two since new ones are coming out all the time.

I don't think one can make a fair comparison between the two because it's an apples to oranges comparison. They weren't designed for the same purpose.

I got mine with 4 controllers for $200 off of Craigslist $50-60 games for $20. Wii fit for $70 normall $100 and Mario Kart for $30 instead of $50 and it came with an extra wheel. This product has been out long enough there are plenty in the secondary markets available especially when overspenders need to sell something to make rent.

I love how people say how they use their PS3 for movies.
I guess no one ever uses it to play a game.
I hope you like your overpriced dvd player.

My PS3 just sits there gathering dust. FOr games I use the 360. For games in groups I use the Wii. For Blu-ray Disc playback I use a standalone BD player which is better than using the PS3. Even for VOD my PS3 is only used ahead of my FIOS VOD. Although I think the PS3 will be my last choice soon.

Show me another BluRay player that has been firmware upgradable from BluRay Profile 1.0 to full Profile 2.0 support, that also has streaming media capabilities to play full HD content from a uPNP media server.

The PS3 is far more than just a DVD player.

What's wrong with using it for movies? That doesn't preclude playing games on it which I do as well, COD4, Devil May Cry, and even some downloaded games from the Playstation store. It also plays my original PS and PS2 games.

You apparently like to assume that because someone uses it for one thing they don't use it for anything else so it proves some point you're apparently trying to make.

Enjoy stacking your shelves with your Wii, a separate DVD and Blu Ray player and an HTPC.

lol, the ps3 aint boring, not by a long shot.

i own a ps3 and a wii, I had a 360 but it melted (literally) and I never got a new one.

But, the current ps3 model does suck crap. Sony was on lsd when they decided to pull the BC from it.

Best version to have of the ps3 is the 60 gig version, the 20 and 80 are the second best and god help you if you have the 40 gig version.

I only ever use my ps3, i watch bluray movies, regular dvds, play my ps1, 2 and 3 games frequently.

I hardly have touched my wii in 6 months, at first I played it the same as my ps3, then it got a little boring, and then i stopped completely.

my 360 was alright till it melted from the over heating issues that they have. will never buy an xbox again, my original one also melted some of my discs and one of the guys I work with had his 360 also malfunction to the point that it was unusable.

so imo ps3 is the best next gen, followed by the wii, the 360 takes the s**t stick.
