[Help Me] DIR-655 Slow CoD4 MP startupI have a strange problem with starting Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer (iw3mp.exe) when behind my DIR-655 (Its the same for all computers behind the router).
When I try to start the game the CoD4 logo appears but then freezes and shows as not responding in Task Manager and after about 2 min starts as normal.
If I run the game with the internet connected directly to my computer the logo is shown for about 1-3 sec then starts as normal.
The game works fine when using a ZyXEL P-320W
I have tried to play around with some settings but without luck.
Im running v1.20EU firmware
Any help is greatly appreciated |

Disable "DNS Relay" in Setup - Networking and disable Automatic Uplink Speed in Advanced - QOS Engine (be sure to input a good manual uplink speed). Restart all computers and other network devices.
If this helps, it's a bug in 1.2x firmware in DIR-655 and it has been reported. |

i have the exact same problem, but i do not use a router? any help? Without a router, the problem would be a bad DNS server. Make sure your computer has valid DNS server(s) and no invalid ones. Servers you might try: 4.2.2.1 4.2.2.2 4.2.2.3 4.2.2.4 4.2.2.5 |

This is probably not your problem, since it worked earlier today.
Reboot your computer and try again. That alone might fix whatever problem you're having.
If not, then I'd look for a COD4 forum. The DNS problem described here is very specific to a particular bug with the DIR-655 router.
But, to answer your "how to" question in case you want to try the suggestion:
I assume you have Windows.
Click on Start, Help, and search for help on doing "Static Addressing" -- you'll still use automatic (DHCP) addressing for your main IP address (the first part) but you'll use static addressing for your DNS address (the bottom part). |
