In reality this is a bad thing for charter subscribers. This means that station changed from "must carry" to "transmission consent". This move could potentially increase your cable bill exponentially... Google Sinclair mediacom debate and see both sides of this dangerous slope.

Something tells me a penny a month won't have much effect on your bill...

Is that all they wanted?! A penny a month?

It is still a dangerous situation.

This little tug of war has been going on all over the country. Cable is starting to see the economic writing on the wall with putrid growth rates for video (actually, they're losing ground to satellite) and the broadcast TV groups are suffering from reduced local ad revenue and are more than a little annoyed at the cable system's antics regarding digital television. So...here we are. It's gotten so bad that the FCC has called for a quiet period freezing these battles until after February.
