Will TWC be dropping prices

Will TWC be dropping prices while they no longer carry these channels?

Of course not. TWC isn't fighting for the customer. Most TWC markets sit right in the middle of FIOS territory. People are moving to FIOS, I haven't had a price increase in three years.

Personally, I could care less. I don't want any of these stupid channels.

Nope, it may actually be in TWC's bet interest to cut these marginally popular channels given their new internet overage policy. Cutting these channels will drive some people online to view their favorite shows. These same folks will surpass their humongous 5GB cap just that much sooner and TWC will then get to charge $1 per GB instead of having to pay an extra $0.25 per subscriber.

Yes, TWC's "internet overage policy" that is in one small test market. That is certainly going to increase their revenue significantly!
Hi -- I'm the director of digital communications for Time Warner Cable.

And actually, we'll be giving you a refund for this. We're working out the exact amount now, but it will automatically appear on your bills. If Viacom can't come to the party, you shouldn't have to pick up the tab ...

Re: Will TWC be dropping prices

National Amusements, Viacom's parent company, just stared down bankers on an $800 million loan payment due on the 19th. The banks blinked, the bankers extended the deadline indefinitely, and Viacom hasn't paid.

What makes you think they care what TWC does?

What, Time Warner doing something for the customer? I really don't believe it, you have to be a fake.

We have two political parties in America. One is evil, and the other is stupid. Sometimes, they get together and do something both evil and stupid. That's called bipartisanship.

Apparently this guy is making the rounds. From »newteevee.com/2008/12/31/where-t···-online/

quote:
Hi — I’m the director of digital communications at Time Warner Cable.

To clarify: Time Warner Cable is not pulling Viacom’s programming at midnight. Viacom is pulling its programming.

Take a look at the popup that’s showing up on websites owned by Viacom — any of ‘em, MTV.com, VH1.com, etc. The text says, in part “Attention Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks customers, starting tonight, you will lose your favorite MTV shows on TV and online because of a dispute with Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks.”

Here’s a screen shot: »twitpic.com/ycvx

It’s that phrase “and online” that’s really troubling. What does Viacom mean by that? If the statement’s true and not just a scare tactic, then it either means:

1) They’re going to take all their video content off the Web and ruin it for everybody.

2) They’re somehow going to block Time Warner Cable / Bright House/ Roadrunner subscribers only from seeing their free video content, probably by blocking a range of IP addresses.

If they do the latter, they will be blocking our Road Runner customers - many of whom don’t even subscribe to our video service - from the same full Web experience that they provide everyone else for free.

What will that do for the future of online video? We’re not sure, but one thing’s positive: it won’t be good.

Nothing like ruining your credibility by spreading conjecture and rumor in an official company position...
