| Seems that all providers are raising their rates. Directv is raising their rates in 2009.

Comcast too

Cablevision as well

I guess the point is that no matter what service you go with you will see a rate hike. Seems they are coming at the rate of once a year on average. Of course, just like in other threads, there are people who bitch about the rates because they have the service. The people who have something else are quick to point that out, but they fail to remember that their rates went up earlier in the year.
Ah well....
Point is that there is competition out there. If you feel the grass is greener with Comcast or Directv, then you should switch. Just be prepared to see a rate hike eventually after you move. Its inevitable. -- My domain - Nightfall.net |

| Makes me glad I invested the $500 to upgrade our Over the Air (OTA) antenna system this summer. Given what is on TV, intense Internet competition, and state of the economy I'm surprised by the price hikes. One would think customer retention would be at the top of the priority list for 2009.

| reply to Nightfall I'd dare say AT&T is beating the Cable Company at their own game of rate/price increases.
Since they introduced Uverse, they have had a slew of them. Multiple times a year. -- "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini

 | reply to Nightfall Thanks for the link to Directv price hike. I Wasn't aware of this. Just when I was about to switch to Uverse from them, now it appears both are raising prices. -- »techfragments.com |

This is why it is important to go with a provider that benefits you the most. To me, HD is important to me so I pay for the best HD provider for my needs which is Directv. Unless the price gets crazy, I will be staying with them for a while. |

Would be nice to see a comparison as to the price increases of each service and how much they have gone up respectively in a percentage over the last 5 years or so. |

| Uverse has only been around one year, but according to another poster who was an early adopter, the price paid total has increased 42%. In one year. -- "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini

I don't know off the top of my head how much the prices have increased, but that number seems a little high to me. Still the rest of the providers have been around for a long time and they could be measured accurately by the price increases. |
