I've seen the SNAP FTP password utility and read the documentation (I have no Win32 boxes) but my understanding is vague. It seems this is a temporary password. Making a permanent Username/Password for Telnet and FTP is discussed here:

said by buggage : Use ICGabe's utility to telnet into the modem.
Once in, type these commands:
cfg upro#1{usr{un=username cfg upro#1{usr{pw=password cfg upro#1{usr{per=0xFFFFFFFF cfg save do reboot
When the modem reboots, you will be able to telnet/FTP using the username and password you created. You won't need to use the FTP Tool again, unless you reset the modem.
I forgot that the telnet login was the same as that for FTP. Works great after using ICGabe's util. Many thanks.
