| thought i'd try your expertise, as twcnyc is no help and can't send a tech out for 5 days. my explorer 3250hd box has been rebooting itself several times a day for the last few days (never happened before). today it started that process but never finished. just ended with a -^v- message on the display.
i tried to restart the box several times (didn't work) and then unplugged everything (component cables, coax and power). Replugged and now get an Er00 then br.07 error message on the display.
any thoughts? i'm in manhattan, fyi. |

| reply to visuelz i'm on engineering staff of a major hotel in midtown manhattan. i know you guys neglect analog but we are on commercial analog lineup. channel 6 cspan only has audio on the right speaker so some room tv's have no sound. channel 3 is grainy but 2 and 4 are fine. our vod integrator says your rf level is low on 3 leaving your main office. |

| reply to visuelz I live in Queens, Rockaway Park, my SNR used to be 38 few months ago and now its down to 30-31 values and power levels that used to be within 5dmbv are now around 10dbmv. No splitters or wiring was changed on the house itself. My modem rca 425 (i believe the very smallone) started to get some bit error rate % now that snr is so low and power level is so high... I called Time Warner and they said that as long as snr is 28+ and power level within 15dbmv they dont have to do anything for me... Now according to most QAM 256 specifications SNR should be 32+ and while things are ok at about 30.5 values those values flactuate and if the trend of degrading signal continues I will have no internet. I thought about ordering DTV but that will mean extra splitter which could kill things... Any ideas? I have been checking RR mainteance page ( »help.rr.com/HMSLogic/network_status.aspx ) and been aware of lot of fixes and problems going on in brooklyn queens and manhattan but not sure if this is related. thanks. |

| reply to visuelz Is HDXtra part of digital cable? I mean I have digital cable and the HD box, I can watch HBO in HD (cause I pay extra for HBO) and I watch Discovery and National Geographic in HD.
But I get the blue screen telling me to call TW if I try to tune to HDXtra.
Also... I have the HBO in demand... is there no HD HBO in demand??? |

| reply to visuelz For some reason, my HD commercials look a lot better than the actual shows. There's way too much ghosting and shitty quality. It doesn't look as bad at all on my cousin's TV. I don't know if it's my set-top box or area, though my cousin lives in the same neighborhood. I know it's not my TV because my PS3 looks sweet on it. I have a 1080p TV, and when putting the aspect ratio as 1:1 so I get black boxes around yet original size video, I still have the problem.
Also, why is there no HD on-demand for premium channels like HBO and Showtime? |

| reply to visuelz Hi I saw your posting here to solve some issues with the cable box. Here is the story:
I have HD cable box Samsung SMT H3050 provided by TWC 32LG30 HD TV PANASONIC PT AE2000U projector DENON AVR 3808CI HDMI cables MONSTER CABLES ULTRA 1000 PS3 Now here it comes the issue: IF i connect the HD box with HDTV or HD PJ trough HDMI cables is ok (however is not the best),but seems the monitors don't have the capabilities to reproduce a good sound i used the AV receiver. So I've input the receiver between the cable box and the TV/PJ.Hooked with HDMI cable the video imagine every 10 sec blink on both monitors(the sound is ok its not breaking). I did the also trough the component cables connections with optic cable and its seems ok video and sound (no blink). Now i suspect the issue in AV receiver logic?huh. The video signal trough HDMI blink but component no!? We living in the HD era, so i don't want to use component cable (7.1 surround eg).I called the manufacturer of the receiver and they said to send the receiver for the test Before i send the AV , i want just an opinion and if you heard about this issue |

| said by OB Kenobi :Why is G4TV still broadcasting in SD even though it is listed as an HD channel? Do you have an HD box connected with HDMI, DVI, or component cables to an HD TV?
Are you watching the HD version of the channel and are the progams broadcast in HD?
Often only new episodes of certain programs are in HD even on the HD version of the channel, everything else is SD and maybe stretched. Don't believe the guide data for what is HD and what is not, often it's wrong and the broadcaster controls that not the cable company. |
